I had to look that up because I had never heard it. While it wasn't stolen, it sure was taken through shenanigans. Obama should have been able to make that appointment, it was his job, his right, and it was denied him by all but two of the republicans.
All of it makes me unhappy. The supreme court is supposed to measure every case against the constitution. That should often be fairly clear, but it's almost always split down party lines, I don't like that at all. I can accept any decision as long as it's a decision based in the constitution, when it's political, I lose faith in the system. I know this entire line of reasoning is naive at the very least, but at the end of the day our system works because we have some small belief in it.
I really want the SC to be above the political bullshit, and I know that will never happen.
