What are options when you lose your win98 disk?

A friend of mine has a legal oem win98. However he has misplaced the disk,he still has all the paperwork and numbers. He now needs to redo his computer and wants to be legal but hates the idea of buying another win98. What options does he have? Can he borrow a disk and still be legal since he owns everything else? Or is the paperwork now just junk?
I have an oem win98 that he could use to install ,but is that legal?

I'm sure that if your friend has a valid license he'll have no problems if he just copies an idential version of Win98 as the lost one. He could always say it was a backup copy.

I'm pretty sure if you've got the paperwork and a key, you're good to go. No?
As long as you can prove you own a copy of it (even though it's lost), who's gonna say the copy on your, oops I mean your friends, computer is illegal?
