What are some great new artists or band you've been listening to?

I need some new music to listen to. I'm open to all kinds of genres, but I do prefer rock and electronica (dance).

I wasn't even around when "classic rock" was in it's prime, but I grew up with my parents listening to it and I still listen to it now. Instead of listening to the same songs over and over I've been digging deep for old live recordings and videos. Good shit. :thumbsup: It's terrible to think the majority of "music" these days don't even use instruments. Sad really. Will there be a day that a "musician" questions what a piano is?

Joe Bonamassa's tribute to Howlin Wolf & Muddy Waters at Red Rocks comes out on CD/bluray on March 24th. Was a good show (plus, you know, Red Rocks), if you like their stuff I'd recommend checking it out. The first 1.5 hours or so was covers of their songs. The last 30-40 mins was Bonamassa's stuff. Sloe Gin was amazing ... I think it was 2nd to last.

Beth Hart has a new album coming out in the next month or so. Went to her show in Minneapolis last weekend and the opening act was this guy. Has a pretty awesome blues voice, he really got into his guitar playing too. Meant to check out his stuff, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Also planning to check out Robert Plant's new album from last September.

If hip-hop is an option, check out Doomtree's All Hands. Gray Duck (track 4) is getting tons of playtime on the public radio station in Minneapolis. My personal favorite off that album is Cabin Killer (track 8).

If not, you have a lot of catching up to do.

Enigma is great too, but it's more "new age".

Not sure about anything "new". I find that with new music, one has to dig REALLY deep to find quality. I haven't been succesful and I find myself going back to the "go tos" from the past.

Depeche is my childhood thing.....and one of my favorites (but that list is long).

If you're into that, you might want to check out Trampled by Turtles. Their newest album (Wild Animals) slowed down quite a bit, but The Blue Sky and the Devil (check out Burn for Free), Palomino (try Wait So Long), and Duluth (most definitely Truck) are a lot of fun.

Amazon Prime has several Trampled by Turtles albums right now. Blue Sky and the Devil, Songs From a Ghost Town, Trouble, and Where is my Mind? They're all great. A similar but quirkier band to seek out is Strung Like A Horse.
