What are some lessons that life has taught you?

One thing that mostly seems true to me is that you only see ads for bad things. For example, broccoli and carrots are good but you never see ads for them. Milk (except skim), meat regularly, eggs regularly, and cheese are all bad for you, yet they're advertised all the time. You also never see ads for going on a walk from home for exercise and general health, but you do see ads for cars and plane, train, and ship travel which are all killing the environment.

It's like ads have to convince you to be a worse person to yourself, others, and the environment.

The other thing I've noticed is that people seem to feel like they need to 'tackle' their boredom, but I see boredom as very close to serenity, if only one could drop the judgement that the emptiness is bad. In order to not feel bored, people use the aforementioned travel activities. Not seeing the serenity behind the judgement seems to be killing us as we try at all costs not to be bored.

So those are two major lessons I've learned from life; don't fall for what's being sold to me, no matter how delicious looking, and there are very easy and healthy ways to incorporate the serenity of boredom without creating a giant carbon/pollution footprint to my fellow man and the other denizens of the planet.

Very few things/events are of any real significance. Don't dwell on the past.

Often the best course of action is to do nothing. Don't panic.

The world is a playground. Don't get fat.

Life has taught me that when I read nonsense like this I should ignore it and move on.

Tenacity and time are more important than advantage.

The brain is an organ like any other, and is affected by poor health like any other.

With minimal practice and time, you can cook something better than 75% of restaurants for less than half the cost.

Anything worth doing takes time and grunt work. All those overnight "flashes of inspiration" in history-based TV and movies came after years or decades of hard work by the person in question.

Don't jump 10 steps onto a concrete sidewalk.

If you aren't fucking up, you aren't challenged.

Oh, and some people are actually stupid, and untrainable. I used to think it was a question of education, or lack thereof, but I was clearly wrong.

I'm surrounded by morons and so is everyone else, though most don't realize it.

In the short term, nothing ever changes. In the long term, nothing is static.

People that insist on easy answers never have any answers.

1. Don't pre-order video games.

2. Anything we do on this planet has zero effect on the universe as a whole, so don't sweat life too much.

Life isn't fair, learn to deal with it

Make things happen for yourself, no one else is going to

There are infinitely more people who will tell you something isn't possible who are usually just too lazy to go out and make that thing happen themselves

Aim to be the 'dumbest' person in the room if you want to get better, faster

Everyone is broken or deficient in some way, people who try to convince you otherwise are lying to themselves and to you

Learn to laugh at yourself, don't take yourself too seriously

Do something that makes you uncomfortable often

Attempt to live the life you were meant to live.

Not everyone can be ATOT rich.
