What are some must own games for PS3?

I just set mine up (yeah I didn't buy a PS2 until 2005 either).

I already have God of War 3, God of War Origins Collection and already have GoW 1&2 on PS2...and PS3 now as well.

I already have all 3 Uncharted games

Already have Tomb Raider Legend, Anniversary and Underworld

Already have Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

Already have Ico and Shadow of the Colossus collection.

Are the Resistance games and Killzone games worth it?

Of note, basically if I can buy it for PC, I will buy it for PC instead of console.

i personally think Resistance series is the best single player FPS series this gen. the multiplayer is shitty though IMO.

other strong notables that are exclusive to PS3

- Ratchet and Clank series, although the latest one was pretty weak compared the the previous ones. infact i think the order of greatness goes from the first one that came out on ps3 and has declined as the newer ones have come out, although still great games.

- Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds - the best golf game out there in general, with the most complex golf engine as well. don't let the kiddy graphics fool you.

I would have said the other ones you already own as well so that is all I can think of for now.

you list some of the best.. Uncharted is quite honeslty a reason to own the PS3 in itslef...its not the best game ever, but its easliy one of the most consistant entertaining game series for any console ever.

When Demons Souls came out If I didnt already own a PS3 I would have bought one that day.. Not everybodys cup of tea, but its easliy the best Action RPG i have played in years. Since they are console Specfic and do a good job showcasing the PS3, yes, both Resistacne and Killzone are worth it. As another poster said..Resistacne is pretty dang good, better then some of the "big name' FPS on other consoles, and at least on par. it will never get the love as multiplayer depth is lacking. MGS4.. should be able to pickit up for under $10 used.. easy pick. after that.. some lesser know ones

Fokelore- it doesnt really look like a next gen game, but its an interesting take on RPG's
Valkyria Chronicles- hands down one of the best RPGs out there (any console)
Heavenly Sword- way to short, but price nowdays should equal that out
Gran Turismo 5- I know alot like F4.. but this is the real deal..
Sly Cooper (collection)- if you dont mind kid games.. its actualy quite fun
Motorstorm- like this series too.. but ... now we wre gtting into GOOD area
3D Dot Hero's- this would be a #2 game for me... but im old so Zelda homages score points.
heavy Rain- love it or hate it.. Would recomend a rent to see..

I've had a ps3 since launch and have hardly played anything on it so as for must own I would say that list is very small. i enjoyed god of war 3, but would not say it's a must own. I just have one game for you that I would say everyone should play.

What in your opinion is the best entry in the Resistance series? Or is it truly worth it to play through sequentially?

Killzone 2 was pretty good. Killzone 3 on the other hand kicked butt. I really recommend it. Resistance 2 wasn't all that good - I didn't even finish the campaign. The co-op is cool, but you can only have one account that ranks up. The second player does not rank up when playing locally. Haven't bothered with Resistance 3, waiting for the price to drop.

Valkyria Chronicles is great. Disgaea 4: A promise unforgotten, is another great game if you like hardcore leveling. Demon's Souls is good, but I can't recommend it - it's just too intense (think of Mario having two hours long stages, you're stuck with only one life and hard to kill creatures/people are trying to kill you). Dark Souls is EASY and not as intense as Demon's Souls. If you like racing, GT5 has the best simulator EVER made, but you'll be deceived by the menu system, music and other annoying things. Even the feel of the speed is realistic. Metal Gear Solid 4 is really good and goes for cheap, definitely worth it.

So far the things that have peaked my interest (not specifically exclusive since I don't PC game or own an Xbox nor will I) are GTA4 (loved the old GTA games on PS2/PC), the last 2 Batman games and Assassins creed. Any other suggestions?

Based on some of your games you already have, id say try and pick up Heavenly Sword for cheap. Its short, but a ton of fun.

the batman games are both pretty much alike (both are great) I would suggest the second. As for Assassins Creed, the last one is the best, once again, all ar ok, but are alot alike. GTA4- personally if you want that type of game I would almost go with Saint Row III (its gta gameplay but way over the top) With batman and Creed in your lineup i would suggest maybe Prototype or Infamous (both have 1 and 2 and the 3rd ont eh way)as they are games in a like mindset.

as this thread suggests, Uncharted should be looked into.. and, Just an opinion.. Demons Souls and Dark Souls are two of the best hack and slash games made for any system...
