You guys are probably right. Why should I care how much this company spends on cameras? Every one of the managers wouldn't hesitate to throw any of us technicians under the bus whenever something goes wrong. Shit does flow downhill and we are at the very bottom, even though managers, IT, safety directors, HR, CEO would not have a job here if at least some of us weren't doing a good job and making the company some money. How about some appreciation for the people that pay THEIR paychecks? I need to find a place that knows the value of a good worker and is respectful enough to even the "lowly employee" to be honest with him/her/it. I think I'm done contributing the ideas I know to be valuable to this company. BTW, because the type of camera I suggested was not officially supported, I bought it myself and it happens to work fine. A couple reasons for giving my idea away was just for some recognition and maybe a bigger paycheck. I wanted to see my name in a newsletter or something. Or just a thank you. How weird.
The difficult part about starting out on my own in the same field would be to bid a contract at less than this company bids it. They already bid them lower than other companies and it's way too low. I would have to go to a state where this company doesn't have a presence (yet), and I'm not willing to move at this point. Good idea to pursue your dreams, though difficult they may be.
Mental?
