In my observation, most relationships do have people spending time together, reinforcing each other's self worth, physical connection, emotional connection, etc.

What most relationships should have but don't always, are things like trust, mutual in/dependence, open communication channels, etc.

Most relationships should have.... Mutual respect and acceptance of eachothers quirks, passions, and dislikes. It's OK to be 2 different people who don't agree on everything, but it'd probably best to find someone who's sincerely similar in most repsects.

I would have to agree with you there....but even then, some of the things you listed as what is already in a relationship are sometimes not there. If those things like trust, mutual indpendence/dependence and communication are out the window, then I'm sure those things go away.

it means the two can talk openly and trust each other. my wife has a hard time trusting people, and thus, a hard time talking to people.

that and shes wrong sometimes(she still hasnt caught onto thatyet), and thinks anyone who points this out to her when *she* makes a mistake is a traitor to her, or is defending what someone else did when thats not the case...so she wont trust or talk to pretty well anyone about anything serious.

I would say that one of the most important things in a relationship is laughter. If you can laugh at each other, a lot of stuff that happens can be forgotten, which is also very important, forgiving and forgetting, because people aren't perfect.

As far as I can tell (and, if dating experience is a requisite to answer this like a college degree is a requisite for my job, then my GPA is 1.0), most relationships are two people trying to be the same. "Oh look, you're just like me. Let's hang out all the time..." until we get bored of each other, that is.

I think a relationship should be two opposites. (I take two steps forward?) Like, I want a girl who's awesome at everything I suck at. I think it makes things more interesting and it makes my life superior by association.
