I think the Airforce requires than you be within 5'2" and 6'2" or something.

yep, so far only trivial downsides. I'm only 6'1'' and I never feel "tall" just maybe slightly above average.

People who are at 6'3'' + usually tower over everyone/everything. Nothing but bonuses IMO.

If you were lanky though that would suck... you would be the ugly string bean!

I'm 6'3" and there are a lot of things that are quite obviously made for much shorter people. Counters, planes, cars, weedeaters (this is a real piss me off), lawn mowers (it always seems like the handles is in my crotch).

The single WORST thing though is that everyone's umbrellas are right at eye level for me. Walking down the sidewalk on a rainy day is quite dangerous with all these eye-level metal spikes bobbing around.

Yard tools can be really frustrating. It's incredibly hard to find a spade or rake with a long-enough handle. Broadcast- and drop-spreaders (for lawn chemicals/fertilizers) are particularly bad offenders.

Why would someone over six feet tall even try to get into a stroller?

add Left Handed to that list. I am 6'4" and left handed...i'm a walking death trap.

Yeah, your life expectancy is like 36. Sorry!

Me too. Except I live in Japan.

It's like being 6'3"+ back in North America.

some really tall people (like 6'4" and up) look awkward or disproportionate. they're so tall you notice their physical strangeness right away. if they were shorter and oddly-limbed or constructed i probably wouldn't even notice

clothes would be the first thing to come to mind... it's not as bad for tall people as it is for fatties, but a lot of designers just don't make clothes for tall people unless you like your pants going down to your calves and your shirts being midriffs.

I'm not that tall at 6'1 but even at this height, the world was clearly designed for shorter people. Airplanes suck, coupes suck, the damn "OMG you're so tall" attention sucks, most girls seem short and those who are "short" seem like midgets, there aren't enough girls over 5'8, etc.

I don't know if this happens to other guys but I'm constantly being mistaken as being taller than I actually am. I'm not thin but I'm not fat either. I think its probably my body proportions. One thing I do love is the feeling of walking on campus and seeing the reactions of short insecure guys who tense up as I walk by. Its just so funny. I guess my being Asian may have something to do with it

Another thing I like about being tall-ish is the presence. I'm tall enough that I'm probably the tallest in the room but not so tall that I look like a freak. People tend to notice you more and it gives a great boost for first impressions.

haha, we are like the ambassadors of tall people, not so tall people freak out, but enough that short people can stand with us and still have confidence.

6'1" asian, now that's a rarity.

I knew a 5'10" asian female, and she was actually complaining about being so tall. Guess it did suck cause we hit it off really really well when we first met, and if she weren't that tall, I would have asked her out. Since I'm 5'4", I wrote it off the second I saw her.

Paddling a C1 canoe is impractical.

This is my biggest issue. Why can't there be more 5'8"-5'10" girls. Mmmm.

Well like IMP said, taller chicks seem to have trouble finding guys although I'm not sure why. I'm sure there are far more guys over 6' than girls over 5'10' at least at my school. I can easily spot someone 6' tall but spotting a girl over 5'10" is like finding an albino snowman...and I'm talking about a huge state school..

Girls over 5'3 are unattractive. < 5' and I am in love!

Try being 6'9" and going through puberty at 6'3". STFU you 6'4" shorties. Riding fast motorcycles is basically out of the question. Fitting in cars is a huge hit and miss. Takes more work and concentration to lift less free weight. Piloting awesome military jets and tanks is not a possibility. I won't even go into clothing issues. Tools and sporting equipment all designed for small hands. There are few perks but it's difficult to overlook the obvious downsides to being outside of the average. I am at least glad I'm not shorter than average.

Decreased life expectancy would be the biggie.

Not if you're in shape.
Fitness in the form of solid core musculature and flexibility will help a lot, but ultimately your L4-S1 lumbar area faces a lot of wear and tear if you're tall. With a longer torso, you're constantly at a biomechanical disadvantage compared to the shorties when you're bending over. And you have to bend over a lot more than they do. Check back in when you're 50, and have spent 2/3 of a lifetime bending and stooping to reach all the midget-level crap that people are complaining about in this thread. Throw in the inevitable little bit (or a lot) of middle age paunch, and there's the potential for low back trouble.
