I paid less than that shortly after launch... just waited for it to come back in stock at Best Buy and it coincided with something like 15% off all BFG products that week and I threw in a 12% off Reward Zone Members (10% otherwise) coupon. I got two for SLI and have upgraded several times since (dual GTX280 currently).

I forgot to mention earlier that I probably spent a fortune on my Dell 2005FPW back in 2005, but I can't recall the so-called "deal."

700 on a Dell 2407 LCD. At the time it was a good deal, today a similar panel is less than half that. It was only in July 2007 when I bought it too.

$250 for a GF4 Ti4400 and $350 for a X1900XT.

Not really. I'm quite poor when compared to most of the US (below the poverty line) but I have
i7 920: $300
2x GTX 260 Core216 Superclocked 55nm: $285 each
Lenovo L220X 22" 1920x1200 monitor: $440
Q6600: $533 back when the first came out before the G0 came out.
Asus P6T Deluxe $300
eVGA 680i $250 or so (when it first came out)
2GB DDR2-800 Corsair Dominator RAM $300
eVGA 7950GT $250 x2
Thermochill radiator: $140 (watercooling system was $600) and I have 2
Those are probably the most expensive. Most of my parts range from 200-300 each (E6400 when they came out, watercooling systems, Viewsonic 20" 1680x1050, 500GB HDD back in the day, and my power supplies (700, 750, and 800W))

Speakers connected to the computer count?

Or lose I guess considering how you look at it

$4200-ish since I bought many of them used

Are you still going to University? Just curios cause as you probably know I've made many of my own expensive purchases on a small income.

Crappy tn panels are half as much, not a good panel like that. 2409s are around 650 I think.

$500+ for AMD X2 4200
$500+ for ATi X1900XT

both were purchased near launch, and I'll not do that again.

Ohhh... I could count my $5,000 52" Sony XBR!

I do game on it... WITH my PC. The immersion makes for one hell of a monitor in PC FPS single-player campaigns. Just turn the TV toward the PC, turn the PC chair toward the TV, put the keyboard in your lap and the mouse where the keyboard was and get lost in it. You have to "look around" on the screen to spot/see things, so it's a disadvantage for multiplayer but an immersion tool for single-player campaigns (CoD4 was amazing on it).

Yeah, I bought an Obsidian X24 SLI off someone on these forums for cheap and sold it for $20 at QuakeCon 2003... it didn;t work with the reference drivers or the unofficial ones and Quantum's were way out of date.

I remember the GeForce 3 setting the consumer GPU price record at $300 when it launched? At least I THOUGHT it did when I paid it at launch.
