I'm reading Shogun. What an awesome book. This has potential to top Counte of Monte Cristo as my favorite book of all time ( read COMC this year ). I also finished Crime and Punishment and it was nice, but not close to COMC's level.

Amazing fantasy series by George R.R Martin. I'm not a big fan of epic, long fantasy series novels but this series is an exception.

"Galactic Pot Healer" by Phillip K. Dick. I've read nearly all of Dicks books over the last few months starting with "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep". Good stuff in general, but It actually took me a couple novels to get used to his writing style and really start enjoying him.

I think I may go back and reread "The Man in the High Castle" as that one kind of whizzed right over my head. I had to have missed something there, because I got the sense of some underlying message but it never came together in my mind. That was supposed to be his magnum opus or something too...

if you want to cram in some short Steinbeck, try Winter of Our Discontent.
