An indie bottling of Demerara rum sourced from the diamond distillery in Guyana.

And a much more refined blended rum from St. Lucia in the west indies.

drinking this now:

last few:

Prairie paradise is amazing. I want to say the ABV was 13% and it is as smooth of a stout as it gets. Absolutely amazing and delicious. However, last time I had those brews the wife had to take me to bed. Damn bar I was at served me the wrong prairie so they said "Oh sorry, take this one on the house" and gave me another god damn 12%+ brew. And I mean... I had to finish them both.......

Haven't had a single malt in a long time. Been drinking rye, Irish, and blends mostly. I kind of got sticker shock on scotch, but all whisky has really gone up in price the last 10 years or so. Tastes good. I'll have to get a few bottles of malt around jul, and replenish my stocks. I had a couple dozen bottles at one point, but I've been slowly draining the reserves. I should look in the cabinet. There might be some surprises in there I forgot about.

Missouri tap water which has 380ppm of particulates according to my water tester. I'm sure it's definitely probably not lead.

I'm finishing up a gallon of mead I made about a 1.5 years ago and was really unhappy with it. It was made with some leftover honey .75 gallons of a local blackberry cider and a ton of black currant concentrate.
It was way to tart to drink even after 4 months, so it sat for over a year in the primary fermenter. It is now freaking delish! There is only about a quart left, I'll be sad when it's gone. The supper tartness from the black currant has toned down, (its not gone but really enjoyable now) the honey is present and the berries are just detectable. @18% it's a nice winter warmer, unfortunately it's 60 out right now.

I seem to be in a Trappist mood lately - tonight is Rochefort 10. I'm trying to decide between it and Westmalle dubbel as my overall favorite. Both are amazing.

One of the new ryes I got yesterday. Very nice. Shame it's a limited edition. Also, it still comes from Indiana. Looking forward to the Baltimore distilled product. The stills just went online this spring, so It'll be awhile yet.

Went to PF Chang last night. Ordered my usual, water with no ice. More than half the time, waiters bring me a glass of water full of ice but this time, the girl got it right.

and this is the other one...

Tasty, and sweeter than the double oak. Reminds me a good bit of Macallan. Unique for an American whiskey.

Rochefort 10 is definitely one of my favorites.

By the way, I'll be going to Germany for 2 weeks (spouse business related) - and I couldn't stand to go that close - so I told her we had to do a 1-week side trip afterwards to Belgium.

Basically warned her that every meal we had would comprise of a pub

I'm wondering if I should try and see how many bottles I can get back to the states in a suitcase as well....

I don't believe there's a law that says you can't take more than one suitcase. Taxes may be involved, but sky's the limit afaik.

More recent pics. I had the Midnight Snark on tap at the brewery this past Friday. Failed to take a photo at the time so I took a photo of the bottles I got to go instead

I'm gonna come hang out with you for a while!

Bring some mead and I'll have some beer to share They usually have one or two meads on tap at my local spots but I just haven't gotten around to trying one yet.
