I saw a similar bottling at K&L but I'm not sure I can spend $200 on a bottle of rum. They had a $20 bottle I'll probably pick up.

Yeah. I am a serious rumhead. 200 bucks a bottle is just the tip of the iceberg.

This one was the most expensive @ 400 bucks. It was aged 26 years and was superlative.

This one was 350 bucks. It was aged 20 years and was also superlative both of them come from defunct distilleries. There is a lot of history associated with those distilleries as well.

I opened it and took a whiff, smelled exactly like roasted peanuts. I've drank their PB milk stout in the past so I thought this would be good. 1st sip, my mind was BLOWN! It tastes exactly like PB, after a few sips I started to pick up a slightly sweet grape jelly note on the finish. I'm in love with this beer. With that said, I wouldn't want to drink it more than maybe once every few weeks, if even that. But man oh man it's delicious. It's not to sweet and they did an insane job of making it balanced. Obviously not for everyone, but if you like PB&J and drink beer this is something you gotta try. If you like peanuts but not so much jelly, the jelly notes here are very faint. I need to drive to their brew house soon so I can try it on tap.

it's 5.5%, the bottle mentions it's a sessionable beer, I think it's just a bit strong to be a session, but it's definitely not going to get you hammered like a Tripple or one of those insane 12%+ Triple IPA's

Haven't had the regular in a long time, so I can't compare, but this is pretty tasty. Doesn't seem as sherried as the regular release. Tastes closer to the 15yr than the 12, but this carries no age statement. Probably has some young whiskies to get the flavor profile they're looking for, and they don't want to advertise "Five years old" on the bottle. Can't blame them. Flavor's what really matters.

Which Prairie is that?

Also here is what I'm drinking tonight.

and going back to a well-establish classic:

2016 Barrel Aged Bomb

Love Abt 12. I passed on buying the tequila barrel DNR - how is it? I thought regular DNR was decent enough but I haven't drank either of the variants I've got (brandy barrel cherry and rye barrel).

Drinking another crowler of Alesmith Nibs & Beans Speedway right now.

Hot buttered rum with aldi mix and Angostura 1919 rum. I think the Angostura is a better fit than the Pussers, but it still isn't amazing. Not an improvement over neat rum.

Gonna finish this bottle today. I'm pretty sure it's cognac in everything but name(due to the German origin). This takes care of my cognac fix(Pretty much winter), and comes from my ancestral homeland, so it gains a few points over it's French counterparts, Bonus is it's a little cheaper than the big name VSOPs.

Time to chill out me thinks. Getting buzzed, and it's about time for dinner. It's been a good day though. Still having issues getting rid of the balance on my prepaid card... I like the certainty of cash. I give you money. you give me stuff, and I'm on my way. Plastic's too abstracted, and you're at the mercy of bank/web code...

Tequila DNR was okay. Kinda what you would expect for being aged in tequila barrels.. Overall wasn't my favorite cup of tea, but if you like tequila then I can say it definitely wasn't bad.

Soft and sweet, with herbal and honey notes. Tasty, but not very complicated. It's my least favorite of the three decent rums I've gotten lately, but I'd get it again. I think it was $35 for the bottle.

edit:
revising my review downward. It's a little too sweet, and leaves a stickiness on my lips. I still like it, but wouldn't want too many in a row.

Pretty good. I have a hard time rating brandy aside from like/dislike. It's the equal of anything I've had from France, and a bit drier than the Asbach I've been drinking lately. Brandy isn't as interesting to me. It isn't as complicated as whisky, and doesn't seem to be as varied. They're all variations on a theme, but perhaps my taster's not sophisticated enough for it :shrugs:

Would buy again. I like supporting US distilling.

I bought this on a whim. The smell is terrible and the taste isn't far behind. Way too funky for me. Blaah.

Half Pappy Van Winkle, half Hershey's Strawberry syrup.
WTF?! Is that good?!

A glass of this, but that'll be it for this tonight. Downgrading my review again. It's just too sweet, and tastes like it has stuff added. It doesn't taste bad, but it doesn't taste skillfully distilled either. Tastes like a decent spirit that's been doctored. I'm new to rum, but I can see this being an ongoing issue. There isn't much regulation regarding what rum is. The traditional whiskies have stringent specifications that need to be met to earn the name, so the flavor comes from skillful grain selection, sprit cut, and barreling. You can't simply add stuff to real whisky, and I appreciate that.

I doubt I'll get this again. I'm not choking it down or anything, but the Angostura and Pussers are far better. I especially like the Pussers. That tastes like a skillfully distilled spirit.

Hah, I'm just joking. My friend entered a lottery to get the right to buy a bottle and lost. I told him I was going to enter the next one and mix it with syrup. He was displeased, even at the joking thought.
