Itching to get outside and split some wood, but it's too early for banging around. Listening to NPR, and I guess I'll listen to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me before I go outside. In the meantime, I'll have some whisky. In my search for a replacement for Pikesville rye, I overlooked other decent bargain whiskies. I like this every time I get it, and it's only ~$35 for a 1.75L bottle. Like the cheap Pikesville, it's nothing amazing. Just a solid dram at a good price.
Bought a new to me splitting maul yesterday that was barely used. Still had the old price/manufacturer(Stanley) stickers on it. The head was loose, so I put some olive oil on it. I hope it tightened up. I'd like to give it a trial today. I was never a fan of splitting mauls, but I haven't used one since I was a kid. Hard to pass up for $9, so if I still don't like it, it wasn't a big investment. The handle alone is worth more than that, and I can always use a new handle.
