Naughty Nurse IPA. Last 3 bottles from the sixer I got last weekend. Just a run-of-the-mill IPA. Figured I'd give it a try because I love the original Naughty Nurse which is a local amber ale that's been around for a while but is suddenly popular enough that you can get it all over the place around here. I knew the IPA would just be a cash grab but I had to at least try it.

Halls Wine & Spirits in Colleyville usually has good stuff. Lonestar Beverages definitely has a good selection. They also run two growler bars/bottle shops called Taps & Caps in FW and Lewisville. Webb Chapel Beer & Wine in Carrollton has a good selection as well. You can of course check out all the Specs and Total Wine locations.

Stuff like Parabola disappears the day of release usually. Same with MH Acheron but you might have some luck with random Kroger’s or whatever. Central Market also carries plenty of decent beer and always gets the local specialty releases.

Just got back from my trip to DFW area.

First, Lonestar Beverages sucked. Their selection seemed pretty limited overall as far as anything out of the ordinary that can't be had at a typical big HEB. Of course, maybe I just caught them at a bad time.

Stopped by Craft Beer Cellar on the way home - and HOLY SHIT I love this place. It's a good thing I don't live near this or I would easily spend $100+ every time. They had plenty of MH Acheron for me to grab - as well as some other rarities that I haven't seen in other places. Awesome stuff!

Glad you got some good stuff. Sorry to hear Lonestar Beverages didn't work out for you. Their growler bars always get the rare releases so I figured the main bottle shop would as well. You should have stopped by some of the breweries in the area

Nom nom. That Acheron is so damn good.

How did you get those Prairie's? Are you a Prairie Dawg member or find another way to buy them off someone?

Acheron is always good. A lot of my friends are prairie dawgs and I’ve been able to try a number of the bottles at shares or through trades. I was able to buy a share of the Mallowdramatic barrel so I got ten bottles of it

Jealous about trying those, but God damn it just seems ridiculous....

$500 to join the club and you have the ABILITY to buy the exclusive beers... AND you have to fucking drive to the brewery in Oklahoma Everytime there is a release and continue to pay high dollars for the release itself.

I love beer. I love Prairie. But that is just silly.

It’s annoying but it works for them. They make a ton of money on this shit without having to spend money on distribution. I wish shipping was an option. I’d be a member of several brewery programs if only they would ship.

Still - seems ridiculous, but I guess if people have money to part with... Personally instead of spending $500 + driving + paying, I would rather just straight up buy directly from others. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Speaking of Prairie...

Drank an entire Deconstructed Bomb 4 Pack from Prairie tonight... nom nom nom

Famous Grouse
Solid budget whisky, but not quite as good as it used to be imo. I think they may be adding more grain to the blend. Didn't stop me from buying a 1.75L bottle today though :^)

Which brings me to what I'm drinking...

Stopped in the liquor store on a whim, got the Famous Grouse, a bottle of ouzo, and they had a Guinness 200th anniversary 12pack. I picked up one last year, and have been wanting more ever since. First time I've seen it since then. Currently having a bottle of this...

I thought it tasted different as well. Yeah, it's still good for the money. I can get a 1.75L bottle for under $28 here.

Did you ever try Speyburn? It's just a few dollars more. Not bad, and it's a single malt.

I haven't had Speyburn in forever. Can't even remember the basic style, but I definitely didn't dislike it. I'll have to grab a bottle to refresh my memory. Your Famous Grouse price is great compared to here. I paid $39 today which is a little high, with ~$35 being more typical. I'm satisfied with the price I'm paying, but of course, cheaper is always better :^)
