I bought a $22 big bottle of Ancient Age tonight. Drinking it on the rocks. It has the same grain bill as Blanton's. Seriously good stuff for the money, but obviously would be better either aged in a different barrel or just for years longer. Carmel color isn't as rich as a longer aged bourbon, but it's not bad. I need to put them side by side in a few nights (I may have a few bottles of Blanton's sitting around that I hid from my wife)

If I'm drinking beer, it has to be piss yellow and more or less see-through. No dark beers, no IPA's, no stouts...and I don't want to "chew" my beer because it's so thick...lagers or pilsners generally.
Tonight I'm having dinner in one of the local watering holes...drinking a XX Lager Especial.

Have you ever sipped on some nice whiskey or bourbon? Try it in the form of a nice beer that is full of flavor.

Things like Barleywines, Belgian Dubbels/Tripels, and barrel aged stouts are simply delicious stuff.... But you have to know how to appreciate them.... And it isn't in the form of big gulps.


Unless you're being pressured by people in your group to shotgun them like a moron. Then you just might. And be hungover the next day....

I have to try that. Colonel Lee is one you may want to try, and actually a dollar or two cheaper. Not bad at all for the money..

Tonight, I'm drinking a cherry limeade iced tea.

Basically, it's a lightly sweetened iced tea, with an additional teaspoon of lime juice and a teaspoon of cherry juice. It's quite tasty, and I can't help but think that this would also work with a splash of rum or vodka.

liquid bread....that's what beer is supposed to be (well, until the DAMN BAVARIANS decided to write their own rules about the whole thing!)

but anyway, yes, liquid bread, It's almost like a meal.

And I had that last night too. Fresh salad, reheated stew, all DIY stuff. Fresh picked (just!) from my yard in the salad. Really don't need to drink anything if there's enough water in your meal. I almost never drink water, well, in the house. Only when I down my daily vitamins! I drink a lot of coffee, occasionally DIY lemonade (fresh again), a smoothy made with my DIY kefir.
