Highland Park used to be different. It used to be a more typical highland style with a bit of sherry. The new maltmaster has made it almost an Islay lite in flavor. I was a little annoyed when I first tried it, but it really grew on me. New bottles look pretty sharp too. Great whisky!
edit:
I have an unopened bottle of 25yr HighlandPark of the old make(~2003?) in my cabinet somewhere. I bought two of them cause it was pretty cheap. I paid $66 at the time, and they were going for $110. It's inferior to the 12yr whisky of the time, but the long age carries a certain cache. It's probably worth fairly big money at this point. No idea how the new make ranks through the ages. I've only had the 12yr.
