I have TONS of alcohol left over from my wedding (the caterer let me BYOB).

I have 3 different kinds of vodka, and they're HUGE 1.75 lit bottles- greygoose, kettle one, and cold river (I misspelled all of them probably).

I LOVE scotch and enjoying fine spirits. So I tried these vodka neat or with 1 ice.

Blech, I'm not a fan. I really wished my guests didn't kill scotch and finished vodka instead.

I also made me some white russian with the leftover kalua. Oh man, I almost barfed and couldn't finish it. And that's with a SMALL DASH of kalua. How do people drink this ultra-sweet drink and gag-inducing nutty/coffee flavor?

I'm not some alcohol elitist. But I really can't stand any of the sweet cocktails and different spirits, my body can't stand it. All I need are:

-scotch for enjoying myself & feeling good
-beer for pairing with food or feeling AWESOME after work
-occasional gin & tonic if I want something fizzy on a nice summer night. maybe mojito that's not made too sweet.

Screw everything else, including wine.

Are Bloody Marys and Caesars the same thing? I love a good Caesar, particularly when they put fresh horseradish in it. Yum.

I'd never heard of a Caesar so I looked it up.

Clamato!!! A blend of tomato juice and clam broth....

This is not something to put in a drink.

Unless you really, really dislike the person you're serving.

It's delectable. We also have red eyes for breakfast up here sometimes, which is a beer with a shot of clam(ato).

Why?

Is there some sort of ordinance that makes it expensive to dispose of shellfish byproducts and thats the cheapest way to get rid of it?

Good question. I have no idea how it came about and I used to avoid Caesars because clamato sounded nasty, but I was wrong, it's delicious when used properly.

I don't drink it on its own though.

How do you get clam juice anyway? Do you just squeeze them?

Don't knock it til you've tried it. I mocked the Caesar myself when I first heard about it, as Clamato is an unholy abomination in the world of refreshments. But when you mix it with vodka, some hot sauce, a little lime juice and celery salt, it somehow becomes goddamn delicious. You really can't taste the "clam juice" part of it anymore, apart as a background brininess that actually marries very well with the hot sauce and citrus, and tomato juice is just hunky dory. It's delightful. I still prefer a traditional Mary, but if all you've got is Clamato, it can still be used to great effect. Just don't drink it on it's own; that's poison.

Also, anyone who mixes Clamato and beer is basically committing a war crime.

I dont think I'm ever going to be in a position where all I have is Clamato juice.

Cold coffee. I got some Dundees Honey Brown last night. I have some beer bread mix, and needed beer for it. I haven't bought beer in years. The Honey Brown is cheap, but pretty tasty. I haven't had it in 10 years I guess.

Side note. I haven't bought whisky in years either, so I perused the whisky aisle. HOLY SHIT! When did the prices skyrocket?! Everything was at least 50% more expensive than I remembered. I saw some interesting new products, but it made me happy that I have a large amount of old products in my cabinet. It would cost me well over $1,000 to replenish my supplies

Places tend to look at you funny if you buy $1,000 in booze in a single trip. Especially if it's just 100 bottles of Evan Williams.

Whisky seems to have become super popular these days. I see it everywhere in hipstertown in all kinds of cocktails, more than in previous years.

Fosters Premium Ale. Not all that tasty but the price is right at $4 for three pint sized cans.
