Sam Adams Winter Collection. I'm really disappointed. Where are the porters, Imperials and, Stouts? The Winter ale and Juniper IPA is ok but what happened to the big dark heavy beers? And wtf is Boston lager and Christmas lager doing in the mix? You can put a snowflake on a can of Bud but that doesn't mean it belongs in the winter collection. Are you listening Jim Koch?
The IPA obsession has hijacked the beer industry. I don't know if it's because IPAs are one of the easiest brews to make or if it's because people actually love the style of beer, but it annoys me. "Here's my uber awesome IPAx10 that tastes just like every other hack's IPA out there!!!!"
I don't mean to hate, I just don't get it. I don't know if the saturation of IPAs are the result of over supply or actual demand.
IPA 's are popular with a lot of hipsters and brewers trying to grab a share of the micro brew market. The extra hops cover many poorly made brews. It's just a temporary fad but, I want my porters!

I've tried both their small batch and single cask. I thought both were great, the single cask being very much superior but both were quite good. The single cask is in the elite bourbon category as far as I"m concerned, on par with Baker's 7, Russel's reserve single barrel, and just a notch below Booker's. I still need to try Blanton's single barrel offering, it was taunting me at the liquor store on my last trip.Ha, hilarious. I honestly saw Redford down a big glass of the stuff in a movie I was watching; left the theatre and went right to the liquor store to buy a bottle.
Have you tried any of their other varieties? I think they have small batch and single cask?

Had a little celebration last night.....a Cristal Brut Rose......honestly I prefer the Korbel version, which I am sure would get me castrated for saying in some circles.
