How is that? They just started selling it here recently (at least in a widespread way), and while I've heard of it, I don't know if it's worth ~$10 for a 22.
Honestly I'm not sure how I feel about it, I can't recall if I've ever had a Belgian Quadrupel before tonight. It's a very interesting beer I'll say that much. And I'm almost sure it would be much better paired with some good food. It has some cherry taste for sure, and it's not hoppy at all. There is some Maltiness on the backbone. I can taste the alcohol, it's not overpowering but it's very present. Since this is a new beer style for me I probably need to try it again, along with a few other similar ones so I can get a better feel. It's so vastly different than the IPA's, Red's and Saisons I typically drink I'm still undecided how I feel. It has a prominent cherry taste and slight sourness. I'm not much of a cherry fan but it's definitely interesting and works here. I get an almost light wine or bourbon quality too, I don't like either and can't remember the last time I had either. I've had both maybe a few times in my life, but for some reason that's something I taste here.
So I shall buy another bottle and drink it with a nice plate of Fettuccine Alfredo or a Rib Eye steak and see how my opinion changes. It's not cheap but unfortunately a lot of other craft bombers are in the $8-12 range so it's about on par to what I normally spend. I buy 3-4 a week so I wasn't shell shocked at $10.99. Don't see this ever being a go to for me, but it could be a nice occasional beer.
If I'm to believe what the snobs on Beer Advocate say about it, this is quite different from most other Quadrupel's.
As for a F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C beer I had the other night
a hint of sweetness and just fucking delicious, now that's a beer I could drink on a regular basis. And if I remember correctly it's only $5.99 for a bomber. Maybe expensive for regular beer drinkers, but a damn steal for craft beers. If you like cream ales it's just phenomenal as hell.
