A wonderful 18% pineapple melomel. A 750 of this is a great sleep aid! Created in June and bottled last month. It needs a bit more time in the bottle but MAN it is great already!!

Yeah I hear mead is relatively hard to make and very time consuming. I brew beer, mainly ales, which are cheap and quick to make in large volumes.

Drinking some Hoegarden and some random IPA's tonight. Warmups for tomorrow.

Overrated. I've had every single one of these from Angry Orchard (which is owned by Coors, FYI). Each one was fairly disappointing, and I'm a pretty big advocate of ciders. I love Woodchuck's - they seem to have better grasp on originality as far as cider goes.

Even if Coors owns them (which they don't) why does it matter? I run a Craft beer store and the beer snobs crack me up. Ones who use to rave about Goose Island won't even touch it now because InBev bought them. I drink good beer, and I would easily pay the $15 a bottle to get Iceman. On that note I won't touch the normal Angry Orchard, and I haven't had the other 2 in the Ciderhouse collection yet. But if they're close to as good as Iceman I'll be all over them.

They are owned by Jim Koch if I remember. I am one of those guys who will not purchase any Goose Island. My reasoning is that there are soooo many great alternatives that I can enjoy just as much in the flavor category and not give my hard earned money to a company that is dead set on eliminating or buying all craft breweries. I was actually almost OK with GI until the super bowl commercial. If a company wants to ridicule me, that same company should not expect me to buy their product. Just like if those beer snobs that pay your mortgage and bills, do you think they would purchase from you if they knew you were making fun of them?

I dont think its as hard as making beer. The majority of time is spent waiting, not actually doing anything. For me there are so many great beers that I can buy it doesn't make sense for me to spend my time making a beer that's nowhere near as good. Mead now is another story. Its hard to find great ones and when you do they are $30 and up for 500ml bottles. I can make 5 gallons of a really great (my opinion) mead for $100 - $400 depending on honey type and fruit additions. The key is to always have one ready to bottle so that you are never without a beverage while waiting on the next batch to finish.

Samuel Adams Boston Lager

I haven't had it in a number of years and had almost forgotten how much I love this beer. I still don't think I've ever tasted anything quite like it. The beautiful sweet malt nose and flavor are wonderfully balanced by the hops.

Lagavulin 16. Amazing and not stupid expensive. Not cheap but reasonable enough that I pretty much always have it around.

Viper GTS

$70 is probably out of the price range. Thankyou for the suggestion.

$40? That is about just possible within what I might be looking at. How does it compare with any cheaper brands? How good are Glenlivit, Tomatin, Glenmoragie, Glenfiddich, or Grangeston.

Or just pick something from here between $20 and $40, although if something is manages to still be good under $20 that is ok.

Tonight will be my last new glarus door wisconsin belgian red. I finished off the tart and the Serendipity over the last week. If Im thirsty after that, I'll have one of my last bottles of Thomas Creek Oatmeal Stout that I had picked up last year in SC.

I need to hit Wisconsin and the Carolinas again soon, make a beer run.

Without knowing anything of your tastes, I'd go for the Macallan, or Dalmore, both 12 years old. They're nice, and nothing too challenging. You're really looking to spend ~$40 at a minimum for any decent single malt. That's the price point where you won't really go wrong, and it becomes a matter of personal taste. Below that can be iffy. There's some good whisky to be found, but it's more of a gamble.
