I decided to go with the Stagg Jr. Oooh warms me up so nice. It is 128 proof.

I absolutely love cask strength liquors. Concentrated flavor so intense!

I just learned we have Founders now so picked up a 6 of the Porter and 4 of the Breakfast Stout. Heard both are phenomenal so can't wait. However, I'm not drinking either of those tonight though because they also had the Oskar Blues Tin Fidy on draft. Got a growler of that so enjoying some dark as night deliciousness right now.

Stout is the only option. Tonight I will crack open some Barrel Aged Yeti or perhaps Southern Tier Crem Brulee.. its a total guilty pleasure, so fucking awesome, but not manly at all.

Quest's Coffee Stout, or District 9's Viking Fraoch. Depends on what I feel like when I get to the taproom.

That one was a let down for me (the creme brulee). I was really expecting a lot more from it.

Their pumpkin stout though is the best I ever had. The warlock one.

Ive got a bottle of Warlock at home. Havent tried it yet. In general, not a fan of pumkin ales.

I will stick it in the fridge and maybe this weekend have it with a steak or maybe some gumbo.

Had a couple Corpse Reviver No. 2s, and now I feel quite relaxed...

Seriously, KT, you need to try this drink. OK, the ingredients are expensive, but so worth it! You've got to have gin around regardless, Cointreau goes in lots of stuff and the bottle lasts forever, Cocchi Americano is delicious on its own (or in a Vesper), and you can save on the absinthe and get Herbsaint (Original) instead. And lemons? They're like $0.50 ($300 Canadian). It's pure magic. DO IT!

Evil Twin Brewing (Lil'B) .... unreal

http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/24300/84140/

You don't know there is alcohol in it. Seen it on shelves for a year or two and finally bought it. Avoided it mostly due to price even though I have spent $15+ on bombers and $18 on 4 packs. I try to avoid the extreme high end of prices. But this is AMAZING.

Probably in my top 5. Easily in my top 10.

Having had tooo many pumpkins this season ...

Smashed Pumpkin by Shipyard is top notch. I think I am on my 3rd bomber this season. It's that good. And the price for a bomber isn't horrible.

I had a CBC which is top rated and was disappointed. Good, not great. Have a second that I might age it a few months and see what happens.

Shipyards normal pumpkin is all over New England. I don't understand the hate. For pumpkin taste ... it has it. But if you just handed me this beer I wouldn't care for it and that's where I agree with reviews of it.

Top pumpkins IMHO and in no order:
Smashed Pumpkin
Dogfishhead
Wayerbacher

Started the evening with an Irish coffee. The wife and I are going out to a party for the first time since our child was born, so we'll see what the night has in store. Probably pretentious beers and cheap wine.

It ended up being Woodford Reserve, Buffalo Trace, and a cucumber vodka that I'd classify as "surprisingly not repulsive but not necessarily something I'd ever voluntarily seek out again." All in all, not half bad.

Tonight I made a Blackthorn, one of a handful of cocktails that uses Irish whiskey as a base. Jameson, sweet vermouth, Angostura bitters and a dash of absinthe. Basically a riff on a Manhattan with Irish whiskey and a hint of absinthe for intrigue since Irish whiskey can get lost pretty easily with most mixers. Not half bad.
