Old Overholt rye. I like this a little better the more I have it. It's still no Pikesville, but it makes a decent 'I don't know what I want' fill in.
Rum heads... What a good rum for drinking straight, and to make a hot buttered rum? I want to get my daughter(or her boyfriend if any cops are reading :^P ) a bottle for jul to go with some hot buttered rum mix I got from Aldi. I'd also like a bottle for myself, and I'll be testing first.
So... I'm looking for a decent rum, not necessarily enthusiast quality, but something an enthusiast would enjoy drinking if offered, and isn't a sin to use with aldi hot buttered rum mix.
Drinking Pussers Navy rum atm. That's a winner. Bonus is the attractive bottle. That'll make a good gift. It's gonna take me a little while to pick apart the flavors. There's more going on there than I expected. Thanks for the tip :^)I would recommend Pusser's rum, Gosling's black seal, Angostura 1919 or Lamb's navy rum. I think you will find those can be drunk neat and will also mix well with either coke or ginger beer. Should be reasonably priced to.

I brought a bottle of this with me back from Cuba last year. Was my favorite of all the ones I ended up trying.
Funny, I went looking for that the other day at my usual liquor store, but they didn't have any cold, just in a big display, so I passed. I still want to try it.If you guys havent had the 1933 Repeal Reserve from Budweiser yet, I suggest at least trying it. Ratebeer, BeerAdvocate, etc have it rated very well. It's a limited run so I suggest at least trying it.
I might try some. I'm in St. Louis so it should be fairly easy to find. I do find it interesting that they're doing a limited run on a good product. If you guys havent had the 1933 Repeal Reserve from Budweiser yet, I suggest at least trying it. If beer aficionados think it's good, then it's not likely to have mass appeal. And A/B won't have a really good idea how well it may sell until they've done the run. This is exactly the sort of product destined to fail... the beer snobs will turn their noses up at it, and the light beer drinkers will either ignore it or find they don't like it.I do find it interesting that they're doing a limited run on a good product.

indie bottling of a blend of demerara (guyanese) rums. 50% and far to smooth. I love it when I can see the sediment floating around in the glass. No chill filtering here.
