I just finished a 20 oz mug of coffee, half decaf, slightly diluted with 2 teaspoons of sugar and about 5 oz of half and half.

Got up to take a leak, and just about fell on my face. I'm || close to getting started on Fathead's gift.

I'm reluctant to post this out of fear of letting the secret out. But for under $10 a bottle you can't do better. This used to be only available in Kentucky and rumor was that it was bottled as a secret label for industry employees to get high quality bourbon for dirt cheap. This stuff pours, sniffs and sips like a $30 a bottle bourbon. It's smooth, sweet and mellow for a 90 proof bourbon. For under $10 a bottle there is absolutely nothing I can find or recommend that comes anywhere close to this. To me it's a slightly less hot Four Roses single barrel. It would be fine for an old fashioned or any drink that takes bourbon, but it holds it's own just fine over rocks too.

Heart me some Rittenhouse. How much is it locally for you?
It was about $20. I forget exactly how much, but between $20 and $25. I got it when I was looking for a replacement for Pikesville. I was a little disappointed at first, but it's grown on me. For the ballpark price range, I like it better than Old Overholt.

I want to try finding that Heaven Hill bourbon you listed above. That sounds like it might be my rock bottom priced unicorn. It may end up being similar to the Pikesville if I'm lucky. That was a corn heavy rye, so not all that different from a bourbon.

I hate living less than hour from most distilleries and still paying more for it than most other people. Normal rates for Rittenhouse here in central KY is $26-$29.

It's a high crime to ship bourbon out of state. You get caught doing that it's big trouble. Otherwise I'd secret santa you a bottle

A whiskey sour. Just realized tonight that I don't own a cocktail shaker, so I had to do stirred, not shaken.

Trying to get some of the basic cocktails nailed down. I think the sour will take me a while, as the various recipes found online vary wildly in the ratio of both lemon juice and simple syrup used in relation to the whiskey.

When I get home from work today,I'm planning on cracking open a bottle of Pelican Brewing's Bad Santa.

(Got a couple of bottles of it as Christmas gifts-I'm interested to see how good or bad it is....)

Wegmans brand "Traditional" coffee(kind of a donut shop light). First cup had Carolans Irish cream. The rest are black.

Soft and sweet, with herbal and honey notes. Tasty, but not very complicated. It's my least favorite of the three decent rums I've gotten lately, but I'd get it again. I think it was $35 for the bottle.

edit:
revising my review downward. It's a little too sweet, and leaves a stickiness on my lips. I still like it, but wouldn't want too many in a row.
The more I drink this, the more I dislike it. I'll be happy when the bottle's gone, and I won't be getting it again. It's too sweet to take seriously, like a child's drink.
