An indie bottling of a wedderburn style rum from jamaica in other words. HOGO!

A very nice single estate, single cask rum from Mauritius and a Sinn T1 B

Also this very nice blended rum. From FourSquare in Barbados. It's been bottled at cask strength (59% abv).

Not that you would know this is 59% it is extremely smooth. This makes it dangerous.

The phrase "being hit in the back of the head with a hogo housebrick" comes to mind.

Velier have a reputation for releasing some of the cleanest/purest and potent cask strength indie bottlings. I thought I would try some and I can tell you that their reputation is well deserved. Good lord. These people do not fuck about.

Lots of nom noms here in your post - but in particular I was about to post about Avery Tweak... I went to a local place and picked up a growler of that stuff last night. HOLY-Shite, that stuff is amazing. I don't give many 5 out of 5 reviews for brews, but that was one of them for me. Absolutely amazing, delicious, rich...

Of all your beers posted - which one of the dark beers (or belgians) did you like best?

EDIT: And can you come to Houston and take me out for beers? I love your taste.

I think I'm done with alcohol for the day. Finished off my bottle of Compass Box Spice Tree scotch, and now I've made a pot of coffee with my pourover pot I got from goodwill. I got a permanent filter for it(thought I already had one), and wanted to see how well it made my staple coffee; Wegmans Traditional. a little on the weak side I think. I'll examine it later, and see what I can about partially plugging the drain hole, so the grounds steep a bit longer before going into the pot.

The worst is when you go to bed knowing you're done with alcohol for the day AND the next.

I don't typically drink that much :^D

I'm generally good for a single drinking session in any 24hour period. IOW, I'll drink til I'm finished(I don't like getting really drunk), and that's it for that day. Today for instance. I prefer drinking early. It would have been around 10am, but I had to run some errands. I started around noon, and quit... I dunno, around 2pm? I had a buzz, and that was good. It's all out of my system now, but I doubt I'll drink anymore. Doesn't feel right. Tomorrow's a new day though, and we'll see.

Drinking season's coming to a close. I like alcohol in the winter. I'll go a week or two without drinking anything at all when it gets warm. Alcohol doesn't go well with heat for me. It makes me notice the heat more.

"Drink too much" is relative. I have never drank to the point where I made an ass out of myself or anything. I guess everyone is different... some people get angry when they drink, others get more relaxed. I always tell people no matter how many drinks you put in me you will never get me to do karaoke. I'll pass out before then.

But I agree with the more likely to drink in the winter. Part of it has to do with when my body is processing all the alcohol late at night in bed my body just turns into a furnace and gets hot as shit and I can't sleep. It's especially annoying in the summer when it's already hot in the room.

Most people wouldn't know I'm drinking, or how much I've had. I change very little. I'm more inclined to talk, but that's about it. I wouldn't do anything drunk I wouldn't do sober. I just sit and quietly judge the people making asses out of themselves :^D

edit:
Waay back in the day I had an Asian(relevant?) friend that turned into a raging asshole when he drank. Nicest guy in the world straight, but holy fuck... I'd have to babysit him to make sure he didn't do anything stupid when drinking, and when he drank it was all out. It was drink everything, or drink nothing. College life probably had something to do with it.

Tried to recreate a favorite drink of mine, available at a local bar...bought licor and bitter, but subed Woodford Reserve with jack, skipped the garnish; turned out pretty good, but not as good as at the bar... will keep refining...

OLD 43
dash orange bitters
1 1/2 oz Woodford Reserve bourbon
3/4 oz licor 43 (vanilla)
1 oz citrus agave blend
garnish orange peel

It's too hard for me to pick a single favorite. Tweak would definitely be up there however. Callipygian and Uncle Jacob's Stout are two more from Avery you should try to check out if you can. Most Prairie stouts are excellent as well. Next time I'm down in Houston we'll have to try to meet up...I'm sure there are plenty of good bars/taprooms in the area

Nom nom... just had Callipygian tonight. Incredibly delicious, probably one of my favorites of the batch. I wish I lived near Avery.

If anything I don't think I've had the opportunity to have Uncle Jacob.

But yes, next time you're in Houston please let me know. We are planning to do a trip around Texas and we might stop by Dallas so I look forward to meeting another beer snob!

Last night I went out and had two margaritas. The place had no ice so it was literally tequila and margarita mix in a margarita glass. Each glass probably had 4 ounces of tequila in it. I was pretty lit
