Overwatch (TL;DR @ bottom)
You mention Overwatch and it's a good coincidence for me, since I made a recent 'come back' to Overwatch due to the latest update. So indeed lately I've been playing that, although exclusively for the Junkenstein PvE mode... until of course they remove it (they shouldn't, but they will; they need to make sure that they won't "repeat" it that much once more for next year's Halloween, even though they just did that for this year's update).
I used to play Overwatch a lot when it came out, and continued to play it for a solid 2 or maybe 3 months or so. It was my bread and water for that period of time; I hadn't played a game that much consistently and for very long daily sessions - every single day - since all the way back to my glory offline Diablo 2 days (back when I could play that and any other addictive games for easily 8 to 10 hours per day without breaking a sweat). I LOVED Overwatch at first, I do want to stress that. But it started to go down the drain for me very quickly as soon as the Competitive mode came out (it literally had the effect of isolating me and some of my friends away from most of my "other" friends in my friends list; the ones who weren't interested in "competing", and the ones who were apparently only waiting for that all along since the beginning). Then it truly became unbearable when Ana came out (back when her Ultimate was the most broken gameplay design and decision I had ever seen in a multiplayer-focused FPS that I could think of, perhaps with the exception of S76's legal aimbot which to this day I still can't fathom was approved internally... who the F_ thought it was a good idea over there).
I did play a few occasional games for the first two or three days when the 1 Year Anniversary update came out, but I stopped soon after. That was the last time I played a Quick Play match, haven't touched that mode since (and I never touched Competitive mode past a single attempt during Season 1 because one friend managed to convince me to at least "try it", and that single attempt lasted one or two matches and that's it; never had any 'placement' done, ever). However, I DO enjoy the PvE modes whenever they come up with something of the sort. The Null Sector mode (with Cadet Tracer) was the best so far for me, I played it quite a bit for most of the time that it was available. Last year I did enjoy Junkenstein and I was happy to see it return this year, with a new variation of it too (Endless mode, which is the one I prefer). The only thing I want at this point for multiplayer purposes in this game are more permanent PvE co-op modes. I can't care anymore about QP or PvP in general. The way they "balanced" the game and a lot of the inherent gameplay mechanics act as complete turn off and I can't possibly have actual fun anymore with those modes. That's excluding the community of this game, I don't want to go there but I do mention it here briefly; it's entirely intolerable.
I'll say though, that I actually did enjoy the Deathmatch mode. They surprised me with that, although I haven't played it much (3 times I think, so far). However, true to their nature, Blizzard being capable of the best AND the worst ideas and mentalities in their games at the same time showed it once more with that mode. Indeed, I recently realized (the hard way) that we cannot group up to play with friends for Deathmatch mode; something about the group being too numerous, or something (the warning message on-screen saying that) when attempted to play the mode with someone in a group. I genuinely thought that it was a bug at first. But nope, apparently we just can't play Deathmatch with a friend. Why? Afraid we'll talk to each others to "exploit" against others in the match? K, big news Blizzard, you heard about Discord, right? Also, does anyone remember the "good ol' days" back when we used to all play together with friends and relatives IN THE SAME ROOM in Deathmatch modes over the decades in numerous games from Quake to Unreal Tournament passing by glorious Goldeneye 64 and Perfect Dark or Timesplitters in split screen? I KNOW RIGHT?! Mind assploding material right there. Yeah people used to do that, and even more incredible... had fun doing it! I know I know, unacceptable!
Anyway, I don't even want to go on about this too much (I guess I already did), but Blizzard never fails to impress me for both the good (even the superb) that they're capable of, as well as the first class stupidity that they can come up with in their design process or decision making. But it's nothing new, they've been like that for as long as I can remember playing their games. It's just that Overwatch is, for me, the best example of that "Blizzard reality".
(TL;DR): I play Overwatch lately but only for the PvE.
Heroes of the Storm
I love it, and even though I never played any other MOBAs out there I truly feel like I don't even need to bother with them. I genuinely enjoy pretty much every single thing in HOTS so far and I love most of their updates. I also take this game with a giant grain of salt and play it for fun (mostly against A.I. in co-op with other players; although I do occasional play some Brawl and Quick Plays, they're fun in short bursts) so I don't really care much about 'balance' changes (only for the characters I prefer but then again I always remind myself that I don't actually compete in this game anyway so I'm in not in the right "spot" to take it seriously at all or feel upset about it too much; even if I do find some of their decisions sometimes happening for no particular reasons other than "hey let's try it like this now, for the heck of it!").
I also love the game's soundtrack, and the voice acting and just... yeah, pretty much everything. Although I would like to see more maps, and map environment variations as well (day time, night time, snow, rain, fog, storms, to add to the ambiance without causing too much visual clutter; there's ways to balance all that and I know Blizzard could do it).
No Man Sky
Not much to say here, other than that I play it occasionally; never really "abandoned" it. I like the major updates so far (all three of them). They're good steps in the right direction and it shows that they still care about it and want to push its limits. I'm definitely fine with that. I don't play it regularly (maybe one session per week, something like 2 hours and I'm done). But it's enjoyable to relax (I play only in exploration mode). And still today I always find it fun to land on a planet for the first time, knowing that I'm the first to witness how "that one looks like" (and the more updates they come up with, the more planets get varied now). I'd say another 2 or 3 major updates, perhaps by mid or late 2018 and we'll get something much more complex (than what it is now) with better, more features (I do totally see actual real and functional multiplayer happening eventually, maybe not next year; maybe more sometime in 2019 if they do keep working on it for that long but I do think they'll get there).
Killer Instinct
I'm not a fighting game veteran or expert at all but I've been playing them on and off ever since the arcade version of the first Mortal Kombat (yeah, I'm definitely not 20 years-old anymore). But, to this very day, my absolute favorite fighting game of all time has always been the first Killer Instinct. Well, I'll mention that it was the arcade version, specifically. Because even though I did enjoy the SNES version 'overall' I was in fact disappointed by many aspects of it (and on a side note I pre-ordered it at a local store, and got it on the first day and STILL remember clearly today that I paid an astounding $120 Canadian at the time; round number, it definitely wasn't below $110... and that was back in 1994 folks; it came with the Killer Cut soundtrack CD so I suppose that I paid for that full price as well).
I was already disappointed by the SNES version at the time when I got it; it was a major downgrade from the arcade version, I thought. But, to my "defense" I know (in retrospect of course) that I was completely ignorant at that time about hardware limitations and differences that it could produce between what arcades could do versus how many things had to be removed or re-done to turn them into "a port" for home consoles. Also, I... was sort of a Super Nintendo fanatic during those years so I was absolutely convinced that it would be almost identical to the arcade version (especially visually). Heh, I regret nothing about those years.
I bring this up though because the reboot (well, 2013's Killer Instinct) is EVER BETTER. Not only better than the original, but of course much better than KI2 (or KIGold, although I must say that I had tons of fun on the N64's KIGold). I love almost every (re)designs of most of the returning characters (albeit I was disliking Glacius' redesign at first but he slowly 'grew' on me, now he's one of my favorites), and really like pretty much all the new ones (well except General RAAM and... maybe Eagle, they're very much "meh", General RAAM I think is the most disappointing of the bunch; and I have zero 'connection' to that character since I've never played a single Gears of War game). The Shadow Lords update was pleasantly surprising to see (there's never been any real, deep and detailed back story and lore to the "world" of Killer Instinct before).
I've been playing it "again" lately (I hadn't in a long time) since I saw it come to Steam, I thought "let's give that one another go" and lo and behold I'm hooked once more. I mostly play versus A.I. and the occasional Shadow Lords matches. I also do play it online (unranked) from time to time. It's very enjoyable, still remains the best visual spectacle in a fighting game (for my tastes anyway) these days. It's very well balanced (overall) and the Netcode is absolutely fantastic, quite possibly THE best Netcode for a fighting game at the moment on the market (it literally feels like the other guy is in the same room and you're offline most of the time).
I also own other fighting games (many, actually) but I always think more of KI than the others. The only 'next' fighting game I'm looking forward too is Dragon Ball FighterZ, that one looks "dope" as some would say (and I've always liked the DBZ universe so that definitely plays its role in my anticipation).
Warhammer 40K: Soulstorm
This one has been and is still being played consistently every single week for something like 4 years. I'm a 40K universe fanatic and my community-patched Soulstorm is launched on a regular basis to satisfy my need for a good skirmish versus my (community-made) A.I. opponents. Did I mention that I'm a 40K fanboy? K, just making sure. Because I'm a 40K-fueled. The best gritty sci-fi-meets-fantasy universe in my book (on a side note, I cried and yelled like a little schoolgirl when I first watched Dawn of War 3's CGI trailer, and of course absolutely got hyped for it; but I still feel like I should mention that DoW3 has been my first-ever anticipated DoW game that I actually ended up refusing to buy, so no I don't have it to this day and I don't even plan to get it; besides I still love Soulstorm and Dark Crusade, why play the others when those two are virtually perfect already).
Breath of the Wild
My last home console was the original XBOX. I completely skipped the following generation (360, PS3, Wii). However, I did finally decide to go with a Wii U quite recently in fact, no longer than just early in 2016 (I think it was February). I WAS, initially, waiting for a Zelda game to come out for "that new Nintendo console" at the time. So like most of the people in that "I'm waiting for the next big Zelda game" bandwagon I waited (without owning the actual console) for years; from the console's launch in 2012 to of course the game's release. However, one specific game made me buy the Wii U, and that was Super Mario Maker (the best Mario game since SM64 and Galaxy 2, and THE best 2D Mario game in my book since it combines everything best from the original series).
Suffice to say and to go right to the point, Breath of the Wild's trailer came out (the big, final one with the launch date appearing at the end during that Nintendo conference thingy, which I watched Live on a side note), I shit my pants and suddenly became a kid inside me again for that moment; and memory sent me right back to the first time I got my hands on Link to the Past and the first time I saw Ocarina of Time at my best friend's place when he got it BEFORE me... lucky bastard. So I went with the Wii U version and play it regularly. I STILL haven't finished it, I'm just savoring everything it has to offer at my own pacing, and I'm often just restarting my game anyway (don't ask why). I'm mostly waiting for the last (well, "next") DLC and from there I'll probably make my "real" saved game which I'll progress until I finish it for the first time, finally. But it's not a race. I LOVE the game and still can't believe that something like that was originally developped for a frankly very limited console (hardware wise) especially considering today's standards. But Nintendo being Nintendo (well, MOST of the time; not always) they once more push the limits and surprise us (well, me... but considering the praise the game received I can definitely say that "us" isn't exaggerated; the thing is just phenomenal).
Fallout 4
I loved Fallout 3, but Fallout 4 is my favorite (well, favorite of the Bethesda Fallouts). I stopped for quite some time, but I've been playing it again lately. I still haven't finished it, however I stopped modding it and it's stable so I think I'll just keep it in its current state and go for it (for the main missions). I just love the general atmosphere of that game (also loved Fallout 3's, don't get me wrong; I just love the Fallout universe in general, but Fallout 4, in my book, is Bethesda's best game to this day, even besting Skyrim).
Wolfeinsten: The New Order
I had heard about it, never bothered looking into it much at the time. I recently saw a nice deal, bought it, started it and...
HOLY S_ that game. That GAME is... is brilliant. It's my favorite story-driven FPS since, maybe since Half-Life 2 and Borderlands 2, or maybe BioShock Infinite (to use a more recent comparison). We definitely do NOT get many of those anymore. I haven't finished it BUT I'm getting very close to the end. I played it again last week, I play it occasionally lately but I don't want to rush it too much. I could go on about this one for days but it's just a formidable game. I'm definitely in for the story, I don't care about the rather repetitive enemies and the frankly-"meh" A.I. in general. I just want to see the GOOD story progress. That game's story could have been a nice popcorn film along the lines of Inglorious Basterds. Anyway, I don't want to spoil anything in case people reading this haven't played it at all. And, if that's the case PLEASE do yourself a favor (if you DO like story-driven FPS games, otherwise absolutely avoid it and play Overwatch or something else instead cause it won't be for you) and go BUY IT NOW. The devs MORE than deserve the money for the obvious amount of care and passion they clearly put into that game.
I haven't watched much about the announced sequel yet (on purpose) but I already know I'll get it without even thinking twice about it.

And that's about what I've been playing "lately".
