Besides GPUs anyway.

With all the supply disruptions its been an interesting change to have to adjust to backorders, part shortages etc. I'm currently waiting on back ordered parts for my snowblower and a fancy tea maker. And a GPU

CARB certified catalytic converter. Shop couldn't find one in the US.

Also: a specific couch. 6-12 week was 'what they were told to tell us. they might just discontinue it though'. So that's fun.

Also: previously a specific terrarium. I was able to get a different one.

Not really "trying" to buy one more like "want one but not wiling to spend the cash on it because the current market is too much for me to buy one."

And I'm referring to a pinball machine.

I want one, but I don't want to spend the like $4k minimum for a decent one. I'm constantly watching them though to see where the market goes but they keep going up so chances are I won't own one. I just can't justify that kind of money spent on one.

The way things are going in the GPU world, I might as well wait for the next generation. I was going to get the 3080 but why bother with such ancient technology?

Waiting on a rock polisher and some signs. Both are significantly delayed due to supply chain issues. We need to bring in the National Guard to drive the workers back into their sweat shops.

I inquired about a log arch back in June or July, and the estimate was September. I wanted it for a specific job, and I'm gonna try to do without it. It was a decent chunk of money, and I'm 30%-50% finished with my immediate use of it.

A new HTPC. The computer with the right specs isn't being sold in the US. It is being sold only in Asia: https://www.anandtech.com/show/16474/intels-tiger-lake-nuc11-panther-canyon-for-asia-alone So I thought that I'd build one. Nope, again not sold in the US: https://www.asrock.com/nettop/Intel/Jupiter H470/index.asp So now I'm waiting to see what Alder Lake brings.

A garage door. Mine has a big temporary fix, but at some point it will fail. I have one on back order for the last 6 weeks.

Cross country skis. They were out of stock since last summer, but are now just coming in. I had to rent them over and over again last winter.

I was looking for a car. My wife's car needed expensive repairs. We would have bought a new car, but there were none that met our needs. So, we just dumped thousands of dollars into her old one instead.

2"x8" wood beams to make my garage ceiling more rigid. Technically, I can buy them, but I just haven't due to the wood price being so high. Things are settling down slowly though so I might get some this winter.

i wanted to buy a new digital piano, but it seems most of those things have been stuck on ships for months

i also wanted to buy a house but people are asking double what those things are worth

my car is also getting old and uncomfortable but the supply of those is very thin too, and i don't want to test drive during COVID

The pinball market has been completely bonkers for 10 years, just keeps sky rocketing. Also if you do find one, you'll just buy another one as is tradition. On the upside unless the market completely implodes your "investment" is pretty safe and you can swap out/trade.

I had a similar issue when I had to replace the catalytic converter on my Prius. I ended up ordering one out of state and shipped it to a friend's place in AZ. He then shipped it to me, where I installed it myself. It passed two smog checks, before I sold the car, and it cost 1/4 the price of a CARB certified one.

Yeah that'd work if I wasn't in NY.

For me, I simply don't have the cash flow I want. Top of my list is to buy a sailboat, buy a single prop airplane, fix up a house I own to use as a second cabin at the lake, and pay for completing my pilot's license and then IFR rating.

Of course, the order is pilot's license, second cabin reno, plane/sailboat...then IFR rating...

We'll see if how old I am when all that's over with. I'd like to complete all of those in 4 years, but it may take 10. I just want the pilot's license and plane so I can take 3-day weekend beach trips and fly easy IFR out of typical coastal weather without having to worry about visibility conditions.

Pretty much just a GPU. My original plan was to have a new PC put together before Baldur's Gate 3 came out of early access. But I'm not keen on paying double MSRP.

Have had a 3080 since January (suck it plebs), so not that.

I guess technically, our whole-home generator, since we've only paid the deposit and are still in line for installation, at which time we'd pay the remainder.

I need a new patio slider door. Rollers are shot, (yes, fairly easy to replace) and it leaks air between the two panels...not so easy to fix.
All the usual lumber yards/building materials suppliers say minimum 12-16 weeks out. I don't want to have my house open to the cold during December or January. Home Depot has a lower quality door in stock...but then I hit the problem of hiring someone to do the work... Contractors here are booked through the winter. Either new home construction, or lengthy remodels.
