I'm considering a position with hours from 12pm-9pm. Now I'm not exactly a morning person so the noon start is great.. but I'm not sure how I'd feel about not being able to be home until almost 10pm every night..

I do a 10-7 stint at school/work, and sometimes I don't get home till 8 or later, and it kinda feels like all thats left for me to do is go to sleep. Plus most people are winding down their days when I get back. I guess it depends on what kind of shifts your friends / family work.

My ideal work hours: 8 am - 7 pm M-Th. Three day weekend, every weekend. I don't work those hours, but I wish I did. Then, I'd still have plenty of time in the evenings for fun activities that require businesses to be open.

For me it would be something like 9:30-5:30 or 6. Late enough start for me to sleep in a little, late enough end to miss the worst part of rush hour, but early enough so I don't feel my evening is gone.

Does anyone get off after 8-9pm? Is it just depressing to come home after the world is pretty much done?

I like my 6am to 330pm shift. I used to work a 1030am to 630pm that wasn't too bad. It wasn't too late and I could take a class before work.

That's pretty much what my hours are.

In college, I did a whole semester working 8-5 with an hour lunch, class 5:45-10:00, weight and cardio training from 1030 to midnight, dinner at 12:30, homework until 2 or 3 and then I woke up at 7 again in the morning. That was awesome until I started passing out (5 months into it)

I liked my 2100-0730 shift at my last job. I'd come home around 9, sleep from 10 or 11 till around 4, then wakeup, do stuff for a while, and go to work. My free time was friday to sunday.

Now, I'm working 1730 to 2300, and I like it OK, except I seem to be waking up at 630-7am after going to bed around midnight (have to wait up for my woots!). I've got wednesdays and sundays off for the next few weeks, and I have to come in on Sat at 1030 to 4, now THAT really annoys me :|

I think the topic question should have said "What are your ideal minutes for working." I mean who would ever want to work for hours on end. I think minutes on end is the best way to look at work.

I work best in the morning, but not too early. Maybe between 8:30 and 11 am. After lunchtime I have a hard time concentrating because I'm sleepy and start watching the clock too much.

9-2 would be great ...

By the way, is a 40 hour work week supposed to include an hour lunch every day? Around here, a lot of people spend the 40 hours actually working, staying longer to make up for lunch, etc. I'm an intern but I'm here from 8-4:30 with a 30 min lunch.
