Kind of bringing this one back. I'm noticing that the 45w 2600+ seems to overclock better than the 35w 2400+. I had planned on purchasing a mobile chip, but now I'm just confused. I plan to purchase an sp-97, as5, and probably a 92mm panaflo (or a tornado if i need one). Which chip is going to give me the best overclock, or is it all just luck of the draw. I saw the I stepping 35w 2400's on excaliberpc, but now I just don't know. I want to hit ~2500mhz at a reasonable voltage. Help?

Still Priming but loooks goood:

Sig rig but:

11.5 x 216.1 @ 1.775V

According to both Sandra and AbitEQ it is 1.76V actual and 40.5C under load.

Dunno if its worth the extra fat tenth of a volt to get from 11 to 11.5 multi.
The 35 Watters run so cool but kind of hate to crank it up since their stock is 1.35V.
With this OC it is already a thirty percent overvolt.

Can they take it as long as they stay cool? I had the voltage to 1.93 to try and get 12.5 on a whim, not stable but still only 44C under load!

<edit corrected voltages>

damn... you guys are going to make me go out and upgrade my 2500+... I can only get to about 10.5x210 with it and remain stable in all my games and stuff. Actually I think it may be my RAM holding me back since i've only got TwinX PC3200, but man.. those are some sweet overclocks you guys are getting. Especially you Shim, you dog!!

your ram should be fine if you have the right timings.. my pc2700 runs at 220 mhz at 2.5-3-3-11 and 2.6 volts easily

What are your temps? I'm curious about what temps are with an ALX-800 paired with a low CFM fan. I'm using the Panaflo U1A with my ALX-800.

About 52c idle 60c load. Although I haven't put a true load on it yet, that's just after playing games.

From what I hear it's IQYHA. I just got a 2500-M and I'm hoping I can get 200 X 12 with a bump in voltage from 1.6 to 1.7 or so.

I'm jealous of those temps. Must be the mobo in my SN45G but my 2500-M only runs stable at 2200mhz with 1.65 volts

Put ram at 3-3-3-11 and give it 2.8V or 2.9V. Set a lower multiplier (11) and raise vcore (make sure you have good case ventilation and cpu cooling). Disable everything you can in bios (spread spectrum, ports, etc.). Boot into memtest86 while raising FSB and run just test five to make sure the memory is okay. Then check it in windows with prime95 "blend" test. Once you find your max FSB start raising the multi to max out the cpu. Usually a FSB of 10 MHz less than the board's max will give you a higher cpu overclock. You have to experiement with that to find the sweet spot for performance.

Edit: and try a range of chipset voltage. Some boards like less better and sometimes it needs the full 1.7V. But 1.6V should be fine to get to 200 FSB.

ordered me a 2400+ 35w last night.. My goal is to hit 2.42GHz (220x11). Hopefully it gets here before the weekend so I can test it all friday night and saturday.

I've got my memory running in my NF7-S right now @ 220Mhz 2-3-3-11 on my NF7-S.. I couldn't get it stable until I updated to newest BIOS. Since doing that, so far after 8 hours its got no memtest86 errors, and i ran P95 for 1h 53m while playing BF1942 and using Ventrilo and no errors or lockups.. so looks like its smooth sailing to try 225

yeah 225 may be very possible...

if you want to run higher, you may need to do an L12 mod to your chip...

i had the hardest time figuring out why I couldn't get over 225 mhz on my nf7-s and i finally figured out it was because I didn't have the L12 mod on my chip done...
