I'm planning on getting takeout (Thai) and refreshing P&N/reddit, and probably watching whatever news channel has the best coverage on YouTube.

2020 already has that covered. I'm a craft beer lover, and local breweries offer curbside pickups. My typical pickup is now 5 cases at a time.

I'm building a gaming rig mainly for flight sim. Currently in research phase, educating myself on components. I got the bug when first stranded at home. Watched hours of flying B777s. I could probably start one from cold and dark for real. Was going to buy game with PMDG add on.

Any advice?

I'm leaning towards AMD Ryzen paired with Nvidia RTX 2060/70 OC

The Tech Report used to post a regular system building guide but unfortunately it looks like they stopped. I stopped playing computer games many years ago but it is a fun hobby. These forums and hardforum.com seem to still be the most active for advice.

This video is worth a look when considering an SSD.

I think that you should look at MSFS as a beta release because it's as full of bugs as a NYC Motel 6. Playable? Yeah but sometimes difficult to work around. Getting better? Yep, frequent updates.

Add ons, the good ones, are scarce. The reason for that is this is a DX 11 game and the pro add on people have crap to work with until then. SUPPOSEDLY a DX 12 version is coming this Q1 and we are all looking forward to that.

This game is a bitch to play with a keyboard and mouse. It can be done but it's much harder than with a proper controller. Those have been scarce since the game release so I check every other week or so to see if production and demand are leveling out.

Either you meant "curved monitor" or I was unaware of a new trend where the cured monitors like they do pork bellies when they make bacon. I'm often ignorant of computing trends these days until long after they've become a thing, so you never know.

Solid choice and so appropriate. Tried it for the first time a few months back when a friend got it for me as a thank you for building computers for his kids. Would drink it again. Tonight it is Hendrick's filthy then fading to dirty. This week has been a bit rough already so no election coverage for me tonight. I need to be able to sleep and negative news will keep me up.
