For a world religions class I?m taking I need to write a paper based on an interview with someone regarding their religious beliefs, and being an avid follower of the many theism vs atheism threads I know there are at least some religious people here. Please feel free to post your beliefs here even if you don't have the time to go into as much depth as I need for my paper, but I ask that you please DO NOT FLAME other peoples beliefs in this thread. The only requirement for my paper is that you must belong to an organized religion of some sort, in other words it can't just be your own personal mix of different religions (although it can by any small religion or sect). If you would prefer not to post your beliefs here and would rather keep them more private, feel free to email me with them. Lastly, my paper needs to be at least 3 pages based completely on the response I get from one person, so please answer the following questions as thoroughly as you reasonable can (or face the possibility of follow up questions! ).

1) What is the name of your religion, and how did you first come to be a believer in it?
2) Who is God, and what is he like?
3) Does God communicate with us? And if so how?
4) How does one obtain salvation (or enlightenment)?
5) Does your religion affect your day to day life, and if so how?
6) What do you think about other religions?
7) How familiar are you with the scriptures and teachings of other religions?
8) What are the most important aspects of your religion?
9) How do you primary practice your religion (do you go to church, meditate, etc)?

These are all the questions I can currently think of, but please feel free to add anything that I missed or which you believe to be important to your beliefs.

Thank you for your time.

1, Has no name
2. God is us. He's like what we can become.
3. Yes he communicates constantly because he is us. He is the thing that pulls us too become
our true selves.
4. We feel we are the worst in the world, don't know it and don't want to know it. We got that
way by being put down verbally and physically punished as children. These events can be
relived and reflected upon to realize we believed a lie. The shattering of that lie releases
a being without defenses or need of them, filled with love and the use of his or her full
potential.
5. Of course, it changes the way you see everything. It's like stepping off a merry-go-round.
6. All religion has this same aim, to free us from our self hate.
7. Reasonably informed.
8. Probably the actual reliving of the past-discovering what you feel and have felt for so long.
Who would have ever imagined.
9. I'm practicing it now.

1) What is the name of your religion, and how did you first come to be a believer in it?
>>

Buddhism, when I once read about it, it just made sense to me.

<<
2) Who is God, and what is he like?

There's not a 'higher' intelligence which is controlling every part of our lives. It's possible that there's something more, but a 'god' or 'gods' like described in most religions is out of the question.

<<
3) Does God communicate with us? And if so how?
>>

Refer to the answer on #2.

<<
4) How does one obtain salvation (or enlightenment)?
>>

By meditation, trying to follow Buddha's 'path'.

<<
5) Does your religion affect your day to day life, and if so how?
>>

Yes, because of the insights it gives me.

<<
6) What do you think about other religions?
>>

Most of them closely resembles sects: unrealistic views and ideas, with each their own (senseless) rituals.

<<
7) How familiar are you with the scriptures and teachings of other religions?
>>

I'm quite familiar with the scriptures and teachings of Christianity, the Islam, Hinduism and some other, smaller religions.

<<
8) What are the most important aspects of your religion?
>>

Controlling yourself, especially your emotions and thoughts. Enlightenment.

<<
9) How do you primary practice your religion (do you go to church, meditate, etc)?
>>

Meditation.

i think religion is too funny

each religion saying how they're the "right" religion

or this one: "if you're not _____ (fill in religion there) then you go to hell!"
i think that's the funniest part......hahaha

believing in god is sensible
religion, however, is not
