CorporateRecreation, you named Green Day on your hate list? Mind if I ask why? I would understand if you didn't like their newer music, but their old stuff is great, and I think they are quite an influential band that has some talent and is fun to listen to.
A few people listed Linkin Park... Awhh, does that hurt your ears too much? Why don't you actually listen to the lyrics, listen to the talent it take to produce that music. Do you turn away from a song as soon as you hear screaming of any sort?

1) Green Day really just IS not talent. Im sorry, if you can write a song about masturbation with 3 chords and get it put on a record, THAT is talent. Green Day did nothing to influence music of today except bring up new bands that suck even worse like Blink 182. So yes, I agree that they brought a new change in music: sellout wannabe punk bands with catchy pop tunes.
2)Linkin Park also is not talent. Their music is not complicated, and thats what its all about. Okay, maybe their lyrics are good, but that pales in comparison to what music is supposed to be about: MUSIC. Any idiot with dreadlocks can pick up a guitar and sound like Korn. Any idiot can play an instrument.. To make GOOD music, you must have some sort of musical talent, instead of playing in the high registries of your guitar and searching for that deep enough distortion that no one can really tell that the music you are playing sucks. And no, dont assume that I dont like linkin park because of the screaming. Hell, I listen to some stuff that puts linkin park to shame in growl rock. Zao, for example, has screaming lyrics, BUT they have good music to back it up. They have more than just yelling, and THAT is the difference.
