I work less than that now so no. He's ripping you off on his sales.

Bastard.
I guess.

I don't agree with everything he has to say. I only take the things that seem worthwhile, and I try to implement those things in my life.

Finished The Ocean at the End of the Lane --a very short book, but I thought it was very good. Recommended for anyone into fantasy.

Now starting The Name Of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I've been on a fantasy kick lately, and looking forward to this series, though I know the third book hasn't been completed yet.

I just red that as well. It's an ok book, but not as good as his earlier work. It doesn't really have the raw brutality of his earlier work, and the characters are not that interesting.

I just finished Half a King by Abercrombie. Agree with you on all counts. Decent book, somewhat predictable, a tad short which means light on the background for a lot of characters, and less brutality of past Abercrombie work. Overall though, a decent read for his fans.

Not Even Wrong. It's a book about the history of modern physics and will apparently start pointing out issues with string theory at some point

robert kaplan, the coming anarchy.

Very interesting. I will have to look into reading this book. I already have World Systems Analysis and Clash of Civilizations. I am sure that this book might have some good thoughts and insights but it does seem to me at first look that this might be a limited viewpoint with bias. That said it is good to look at many different viewpoints especially when it comes to world studies. Reading through the Wikipedia article of The End of History and the Last Man it seems there might be more to that book than I thought but I am still very wary of that book and the probably tribalism and bias that Fukuyama projects in his writings.

Words of Radiance (The Stormlight Archive, Book 2) by Brandon Sanderson
Noticed the e-book version went on sale for $3.75 so I picked it up. Fairly good so far.

Just finished "The Innovators: How a Group of Inventors, Hackers, Geniuses, and Geeks Created the Digital Revolution" by Walter Isaacson. Relevant to the interests here I would think. I really enjoyed it. Some things I did know (many here will probably know a lot of things in the book), some I didn't know about and some I knew bits and pieces but were explained in full.

Has anyone read Isaacson's Steve Jobs book? I know it was huge and I'm assuming many have read it. I've avoided it until now, but liked Isaacson's writing so contemplating reading it. My main question is, is the book balanced in it's approach? Or is it just slobbering all over Jobs the whole time? I'm not an anti-Apple guy nor am I anything remotely a fanboy, but I don't really want to waste my time reading what basically equates to a "puff piece".

I have a couple of Neil Gaiman books in the offing that I got as gifts in the past few weeks: American Gods and The Ocean at the End of the Lane. I also have a three-month-old, so I'm reading Good Night Moon on an almost hourly basis. I need to pick up Go the Fuck to Sleep before she's of the age where she can figure out how to say those words back, although that would be a wonderful surprise for grandma...

I've only read The Ocean at the End of the Lane from Gaiman, and I loved it. I am really interested in reading more from Gaiman, he's definitely on my list of authors to read!

I read Neverwhere and it was pretty good; convinced me to check out more of his stuff. Good Omens, which he wrote with Terry Pratchett, is outstanding, so if you haven't checked that out, you should.

Still reading "D-Day: June 6, 1944: The Battle for the Normandy Beaches" by Ambrose. And on my Kindle I'm also still reading "The Last Lion: Winston Spencer Churchill: Defender of the Realm, 1940-1965."

Recently I was watching a YouTube video and from it learned of this series by Glen Tate, "299 Days." It's about a partial collapse of America and how this lawyer-turned prepper and his family deals with it. Normally not my cup of tea as far as reading material but I figured I'd check it out. Honestly the writing isn't very good, it's like it was written for a 7 year old or something, but I admit that it keeps my interest and I wanna find out what happens next. It's bullshit though that the publisher (I'm guessing) split up what should've been one or maybe two books into ten frickin books.

Probably has been mentioned but I found King's Revival to be a good read.

I haven't read his Mr. Mercedes but I would like to.

Koontz tossed me about with Innocence. Its been out awhile but I just picked it up in paperback.

I finally read King's The Girl who Loved Tom Gordon and enjoyed that very much.

Reread Zelazny's original Amber series (hence the nick) and currently reading the second.

I've always wondered whether there's a point in people's lives (I'm thinking of an age) where they stop reading self-help books. I mean if you're 50 and you're still trying to find the true inner-you, you ain't never going to find it.
