I'm about a quarter of the way through Candide. Figured it was time to read it.

The Dark Tower starts well but goes badly downhill in the last several books. There are certainly good parts, but given the time investment for the whole series I wouldn't really recommend it.

I'm still in Malazan Book of the Fallen, but into book 9 of the main series now. I'm doing the ultimate reading order which interlaces the Erikson and Esselmont books. In hindsight this was probably a mistake because it's too many characters and plotlines at once - doing it over again I'd probably just read all the Erikson first.

I'm working on two books:

Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl

Bob Dylan: Chronicles Volume 1

I just finished The Way of Kings, part one of the Stormlight Archives by Brandon Sanderson. Damn good book, couldn't get enough of it. Starting the second book, The Words of Radiance. I know i'm going to be sad when it's done and I have to wait for the third book.

On a separate note, anyone have a recommendation for a good space scifi series? Books need to be long, 1k pages+ preferred as I do audio books in my car from Audible, so the longer the better. And I enjoy series books. Something like Ender's game would be fun, but it's just too short.

The Revelation Space series is awesome, even though I found Absolution Gap's ending disappointing. If you like this universe I also highly recommend Galactic North.
Haven't read Galactic North, but I do have some more of Reynolds books on my bookcase at home, in queue to be read

Pushing Ice is really good. I've also read his Poseidon's Children series, which is pretty good, but I didn't like it as much as Revelation Space.

Not sure what styles you like but offhand I'll suggest the Vorkosigan Saga or Honor Harrington, both long series.

Thanks for the suggestions. I took a look and while those are long series, the books themselves are still too short, many only 13 hours of audio. I go through that too fast and will run out of credits. For instance the book i'm reading now is 40+ hours. Takes me about a month and then I have a new credit ready for the next book!

I am looking at the Otherland series, as well as Commonwealth Saga and Night's Dawn Trilogy.

Just started the Maurice Druon series of books which helped inspire George Martin to write the Game of Thrones series. Almost finished the first book - The Iron King.
It's a very good read, but it doesn't quite have the epic quality of GOT.
Still, worth a look.

Been on a reading kick lately.. well kinda.

Currently reading Quants by Scott Patterson. Been reading a lot of books by economists lately. So far so good.

The Honor Harrington books get longer as you go, so if you are willing to go through some shorter ones in the beginning, they do get huge later. Night's Dawn is fun, but I haven't gotten around to reading the Commonwealth Saga yet.

Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow (what the musical is based on).

The first several chapters are kind of a slog, but things are picking up as it gets into the Revolutionary War.

Simultaneously, Yamada Monogatari: To Break the Demon Gate (sequel to Demon Hunter). Basically feudal Japan with ghosts and demons. Pretty entertaining.

A few weeks ago, I re-read the Great Gatsby. I hadn't read it in over 10 years (last time was sometime in high school). Now I'm slowly (mainly because I have to find the time) working on Thomas Pynchon's "Inherent Vice".

A book on Linux. Can't remember the name, but it's pretty mundane. I knew I should have bought that larger 30-40 dollar book with all the terminal commands.
