what charging devices do you use (Xbox 360)

I'm sick of swapping out batteries (even rechargables) for the 360 in our house.

What charger does everyone use or enjoy (or hate).
Ideally I guess I would like one that the battery packs stay in the controller and you can just plug the controller into when not playing. Do they make induction pads at all for the controllers?

They don't make one like you're describing AFAIK, but they do have a Plug and Play kit (which should come with the Xbox, but whatever...). You can just plug it into the console and it charges while you play. I have one, plus I have the charge stand. 3 battery packs come in handy sometimes.

I have the MS charger that has 2 slots and I have another Nyko charger that has 2 slots. I think I have 4 or 6 battery packs total. I don't mind swapping the battery packs to be honest. I sit far enough from the consoles that I don't think the plug and play unit is feasible.

I vouch for the Play and Charge kit, link. Great device. I can go for about 2 or 3 weeks between charges. Supposedly around 20 hours of play time?

I won't touch another play and charge kit. Every single one I've had stops taking a charge at all after 4-5 months. What a waste of money... I'd be willing to try any other pack other than that one.

i have 2 plug/play kits that i got back in the day when 360 first came out, and they both are virtually dead now. they will last like 10 minutes if they aren't plugged in. it works fine when plugged in.

doesn't bug me much however since i've mainly been playing sf4/ssf4 over the past 2 years or so, and i plug in my joystick for that anyways. i also bought a 15 foot usb extension cord so I always have that right near where i plug my joystick in, so i just swap my controller with it.

Low self discharge NiMH batteries and a smart charger. Good for weeks between charges, and they can sit in your controller for months and still hold a charge.

Honestly, it's not really any different from the rechargeable battery packs you can get for the 360 except they last longer and are more reliable.

This, this, this, a thousand times this. The play and charge kit is utter garbage. Nab a quick charge kit (I think that's what they're called) if you can. They charge batteries in a couple of hours and actually make the batteries hold a charge.

Yeah, mine doesn't seem to work anymore either..I've had it for about a year. I was going to get a good charger and a set of Eneloops, but maybe I'll look into the quick charge kit.

I've ran through a couple of the plug/play kit batteries and neither have lasted me long before I had to keep the controller plugged in. Since I've just started playing my 360 quite a bit now, I've completely switched to regular AA's. I put in a fresh set when I started playing Borderlands last month, and they lasted me around 25 hours or so according to the time I had played my character (Borderlands was the only thing I played).

I bought like 120 Rayovac batteries on Black Friday last year for $20 at Home Depot, so I'm just going to work my way through those. At the pace with which I play, I'll have quite a few batteries expire before I'd even be able to use them.

This is what I use.. No problems + works for the wii too.

I have never had any problems using my charger (but just recently I picked up a Plug and Play kit.)

I run ultra-high capacity 2850mah rechargable nimh battteries and only have to swap them about every 75 hours of gametime. If using a "plug into the controller" type headset or the chatpad it drops down to about 60hrs of playtime. 1 bought 4 sets and the charger for about $20 2 years ago and they are still going strong.

That could work. My only thought is that if/when the battery packs die, you can't simply buy another battery (at least from newegg). You'd have to buy another whole set.

edit: amazon sells the individual batteries, so that should be good

They're a little cheaper than the MS batteries so they won't be that bad to replace if needed either

Gamestop has those chargers as well for the same price, and probably used ones from time to time for like, $15.

Basically though, that is a quick charge kit, just third party.

-Yeah, don't get a play and charge kit.

-I have a suggestion, even if it's not exactly what you want.

*1st, get a quality charger, one that turns off when it's done charging. Good ones will also charge batteries individually as opposed to in pairs or charging all 4 or however many slots.

*2nd, get some "pre-charged" (slow discharge) rechargeable batteries, these are the kind that come fully charged when you buy them and have a long shelf life compared to normal rechargeable batteries, which drain pretty fast even if you don't use them.

This way, you can leave batteries in your charger without wasting power nor overcharging and killing your batteries. It's not quite recharge as it's set down, but almost as good.

I have a Lacrosse BC909 charger and Duracell pre-chargeds for both xbox and other stuff.

So the consensus is:

Don't get a play and charge kit
use decent rechargable AAs (like I have been doing already).

I guess my hope was for just someting the controllers can "sit" on or "plug into" while not playing.

Yeah I'm not overly worried about the batteries crapping out over time. Unless its like a handfulof chargesof course. I mean at $25, its not like the whole thing isn't just repalcable every other year
