I think the comment about Kerry is a bit over the limit. It should not have been said by the pastor.

Besides a large chunk of the Episcopalian(sp)/Anglican church, the UCC and probably countless small liberalized independant churches, I cannot think of any others right now.

Also, it might be a good time to point out that a proper protestant church body should never hate homosexual people but only hate homosexuality. I realize how difficult it is to separate the person from the act but it is necessary.

I just meant that I believed in Christianity. I believed like my Dad did, that it was the only way to live your life, I believed in the second comming, the mark of the beast, blahblah etc. Jesus was son of God, and he is the only true Lord and Savior!

Like, gag me with a spoon. All that went straight out the window when I started thinking on my own. I 've always had problems with his "world view", now I know why.

well in the new testament time, people tried to justify themselves by the law instead of relying on God's grace. Those people were known as the pharasis(mispelled).

All this talk about God and his church discriminating against the homosexuals... and how its wrong and unfair and blah blah blah... it all makes my head hurts.

Who cares if you think the Christian GOD, the GOD of the bible is fair or moral or discriminating. He doesnt answer to you.

This is the same God who in the old testament took a small tribe of people and made them into a nation. Told them to invade lands and kill all the people in them and take all their possessions, and then inhabit the land. Called them to destroy anything that opposed their beliefs.

When you die and you stand before the all powerful, all knowing, and pissed off GOD...and he says "You have unforgiven sin, Go to Hell" What are you going to say to him? "Thats not fair... I was born this way! Your Discriminating against me!" He wont be interested in your pathetic little excuses, God doesnt care about equal rights, your either for him or against him. Thats all that matters.
you have a choice to make...either you do what he says or not.

The point is when the chips fall down... when armageddon happens and the world is destroyed.... fair or unfair... be a true follower with the most powerful GOD in the universe, or end up with all the rest of those who oppose him in hell where he puts you. Who is going to stop him? YOU?

I don't necessarily believe in God.. I'm Agnostic.


Spiritually.. that's a whole 'nother ballgame. I believe there is a lot we don't know, that's for sure. Our sciences only touch the things we can (currently) feel and manipulate.. we still have a long way to go.

I'm sure my viewpoints will change a dozen times over the rest of my life. That's the nature of life.

I just refuse to sit down and say "This is the way it is." and close the book. I'm not like that, the book is never closed.. I'll be learning new things and interesting ways to apply them to my life until the day I die, I'm sure.

I'm not religious but my parents are and they are unitarian universalist. They ministers that got arrested in NY for marrying a couple were Unitarians. As far as I can tell they would probably your best bet cus they accept everybody. We had a rabbi come in once to do mass

Old Testament = utter crap for Christians stuck in the past. New Testament reflects the direct teachings of Jesus. I know this, and I'm not even religious at all.

Affirming that our federal and state constitutions exist to protect the rights of minorities from the tyranny of the majority and in the context of the current debate over same-sex marriage, we of the Alliance of Baptists decry the politicization of same-sex marriage in the current presidential contest and other races for public office. We specifically reject the proposed amendments to the constitution of the United States and state constitutions that would enshrine discrimination against sexual minorities and define marriage in such a way as to deny same-sex couples a legal framework in which to provide for one another and those entrusted to their care.

As Christians and as Baptists, we particularly lament the denigration of our gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender sisters and brothers in this debate by those who claim to speak for God. We affirm that the Alliance of Baptists supports the rights of all citizens to full marriage equality, and we affirm anew that the Alliance will "create places of refuge and renewal for those who are ignored by the church."
