and what classes did you take in high school that were X? how about AP? how about Y? how did you do in your classes?

i took a lot of x courses, the same Y course every semester, and no AP courses.

i always did pretty poorly in X english, but then i did a lot better once i decided to take regular english. i think i made an A both semesters of 11th grade english, then an A the first sem of 12th grade english and i think a B in the second sem of 12th grade english.

i did very well in Spanish IB in the 8th grade (90% first semester, 93% second semester), mediocre (like 80-83%) in Spanish IA which was in the 7th grade, and i did poorly in Spanish II because my teacher was always kicking me out of class (for "breaking wind" and talking out too much) and i never knew what work counted and which didnt (so there was a lot of work i didnt do)... i got like a 69% the first semester then 66% the second.

i took pre-calc (which was an X class automatically) in the 12th grade and barely made a "D". then i took it again in my first semester in college and made a 78% (83%, 62, 55, 90, 189/200) which was a B-.

I got a 96.8% in my first semester of Alg II which was in the 10th grade,

in 9th grade, i did well in world geography (89.7% sem I average, 92-93% sem II average),

in the 10th grade, i had about a 93% in the first semester of world history and about a 94% in the second semester.

i did decently in X earth science in the 9th grade (i know i made something like an 84% average in the second semester, i think i got a C for the first sem) but i did poorly in Zoology in the 12th, Cs in chemistry, a low B (maybe a high C, i cant remember) in first semester Biology and a B (about a 90-91%) in second semester biology.

i got like an 83% both semesters of u.s. history (11th grade).

i got a 74-76% in the first quarter of X geometry in 9th grade, then for the 2nd quarter i went into regular geometry and stayed there; i got about an 80% in the second quarter and got an 85% on the first sem exam. i barely passed the SOL in the second semester, but i think i got like an 83% average between Q3s and 4 (didnt get graded for an exam since passing the SOL meant you didnt have to take the exam).

my teacher curved my grade about one half of a percentage point in trig (11th grade, 1st semester) to give me a C instead of a D and then i got a B in elementary functions.

most of my high school teachers were way tougher than my college professors even though i did better in high school because i studied a lot while i studied very little in college (just enough to get by; made up for mediocre and poor test scores with good participation grades and decent papers).

I did well in all classes except for AP World History. Horrible. In my senior year I took AP Macroeconomics and AP U.S. Government, as well as AP Calculus AB - 91% in both courses, and an 89% in AP Calculus AB, but didn't take the exams. Other than that, I did poorly in Chemistry. I still don't understand why they'd want you to take that in high school.

I did well in classes that didn't require shit tons of busy work like homework.

The point of a class should be to teach you subject matter. Busy work can be useful for some, but for me, taking notes was the way I learned best. Once I'd written the copious notes for the lecture, that was all I needed. My test results reflected this. My grades, however, because I rarely did the busy work, were usually mediocre.

AP classes didn't exist when I was in school. Did great in economics and had a Prof ask me to switch majors. Probably should have listened. Failed English in high school because I never went. Got A 's in college English. Straight A 's in all of my management classes. HS was a waste of time but, I knew I'd have to go to work full time if I dropped out. I educated myself at public libraries.

All A's in high school, took some college courses my senior year. Hated my first choice of major in college and grades reflected that. After I switched I got mostly A's.

That was my problem. School was so boring that I stopped going once I got hurt and couldn't play football. My last semester I went one day and still passed the finals that I took.

In grade school I was in the gifted class and that was fun. Then we moved in 7th grade and they were doing stuff I had done in 3rd and 4th grade. I rebelled and was an ass about it but they didn't care.

Education tends to correlate with winning at life, and providing the most in society. Just because you are too smart of school is no excuse for giving up on gaining what you need to be the best person you can be.

I got my high school equivalency degree. Its technically a diploma, same thing really but it came with 2 years of college that I never used. I don't think schooling equates to being a better person.

You are right but, so is Dixie. Education does correlate to higher earnings but, certainly doesn't guarantee them. I do believe education has value in of itself beyond what someone else is willing to pay for it.

I was always a straight A student. AP courses didn't exist back when I was in HS (class of 72) Some classes were easier to get A's in, some required a bit of work.

college and grad school (music) my best classes were theory and composition. 2nd set of degrees (comp sci) my best courses were languages and theory.

Science and math. And loved all the electives like art and autoshop.

Hated history (love it now though). And didn't like English much. I'd usually not even try in those, pass, but take summer school anyway and get an A. I don't know why but those classes were more fun in summer school. Even though the classes were longer and not any easier.

Everything in school was way to easy though. I barely had to try to get good grades. I think I had a 3.2 or 3.6? (can't remember) average and that was just by doing homework between classes. But I hated being locked up in a routine and just wanted to be free. So after high school I got into trade work, work alone, make my own hours, days off etc.

I did well in computer related classes. I remember getting 99% in autocad class. The teacher said he wanted to give me 100% but the program only allowed 2 digit numbers. I found it was an easy class, because it's whether you get it right, or you don't, and if you make one mistake, you know, because it throws off everything else. Some people had lot of trouble in that class though. I just seemed to grasp it naturally.

I did terrible in math though, and did average in non technical classes like french/english. In college it was pretty much the same thing, I did really good in programming but bad at math, and about average in non technical classes. Though Cisco I actually did pretty bad, I was really good at the hands on stuff like configuring switches/trunking/routers/routing etc but sucked at the theory part.

I have a knack for logical things, so it was easy for me to make As in physics, chemistry, all the math classes, computer science, etc. I'm really bad at pure memorization, so I had a more difficult time with things like foreign language and history. That being said, I was still able to make As in those classes, but it took a lot more effort. I consider it to have been a good study in working hard at things that don't necessarily interest me. I figure that's a good life skill to have.
