Cheap bar soap. Guys don't need anything more than regular soap. Soap cuts through oily skin, will clean pores, etc. Women need those exfoliating scrubs, tea leaf extracts, etc, since their faces wear makeup all day. Guys don't need, nor should they use, anything but soap unless they have a medical condition such as severe acne.

Quite honestly, since the original post is coming from a guy named ManlyMatt, there is no excuse to use anything but cheap bar soap or leftover shampoo residue which you then also use to shave with.

Shampoo/conditioner - whatever washes off my head onto my face.

For a few years that was Head & Shoulders... F*ck, I feel bad for the people who had to look at me. My face as flaking skin 24/7 and I didn't like looking in the mirror then, so never really knew aside from the flakes that came off when I touched it.

Shampoo and I use a really nice shaving cream to shave in the shower. The ones in squeeze bottles instead of cans. I try different facial cleansers, but only use them a couple times a week. I just use extra shampoo and use the left over lather on my hands to rub down my face. I pay extra attention to my nose, especially where it meets my face. I use the

Well, today, I finally found out you're not supposed to do that. So, what are guys supposed to use instead?

You should use shampoo and conditioner on your beard and mustache, and then only use soap on the remaining parts of the face which do not have hair.


If you do not have a beard and mustache, then you either will grow out of it, or you are beyond help

Holy crap, I didn't realize so many guys use actual skin care products. I'm not bashing it, it just seems strange to me.

I grew up with whatever shampoo my parents bought, plus Ivory soap. Even seeing that my father in law (one of the greatest guys + total badasses that I know) uses body wash as opposed to bar soap blew my mind at first.

I can't do Ivory soap anymore (dries out my face too much), but other bar soaps work just fine. After sweating a lot (working outside, etc.), I just rinse my face with water. I also rinse my face before going to bed. Seems to work well.

I did hear one thing that was intriguing though - if you're having problems with acne, try changing you pillow cases more often.
