Hate ND and Michigan...but, Michigan had a heck of a team, and would have beaten Neb that year.......Neb's offense is sooooo old..here's an idea...drop back and pass!!!!! ......they hardly beat TCU last week...they better pick it up if they don't want OU and UT to stomp on them this year....
huskers had so much talent, scott frost, grant wistrom, dan alexander, mike brown, ralph brown, bobby newcombe, dominic railoa, kyle vanden bosch, and a young eric crouch. i believe all those guys are in the pros now.
remember they beat a number 3 tennessee team that year 42-17

Its called a tradition Back in the day a reporter wrote that when Alabama ran out on the field it sounded like a herd of elephants and that was worked on for quite a while. Later on, 'Bama picked up on that and created Big Al. Personally, I'm glad they did that instead of trying to make a Tide mascot much like Tulane made a Green Wave mascot. Damn thing looks like a jalapeno.

That Michigan team would not have stood a chance against Nebraska - they were a _highly_ overrated team that had not even rolled through what was a relatively weak BigTen at the time.
Don't get me wrong, they were a very good squad, but they didn't play a team the caliber of the Huskers all year long and they squeaked out of some games that should have been routs, if they were as good as they were thought to be (and should have been.)
Were they top 10? Definitely.
Were they top 5? Most likely.
Were they legitmate #1? Not a chance.
