I only see white & gold. My youngest daughter only see white & gold & we haven't swapped.

My wife & oldest daughter keep flopping back & forth. They're driving me friggin' nuts!!

Except for the "icy white" and perhaps "shadowed gold", there's no such color BUT white & gold.

The definitive answer is it is blue with black stripes, but it's a crappy picture that happens to be a good display test. I looked at the image on my Lumia Icon (AMOLED) and iPad Mini 2 and can see it both ways. I'm laughing that people are opening it up in Photoshop to eyedrop and sample the color, because it is really being washed out by light.

Color perception can vary between people as well, but differences in display tecnology is making the biggest difference.

Not sure I would call that gold (certainly not black)...and the white clearly has a blue cast to it. Whether that's do to poor lighting or is the actual color of the material I do not know.

So I'm gonna call it like I see it, vomit dress.

It is a contributing factor, not the only reason. AMOLED displays normally have higher contrast, and someone who ordinarily would see the correct colors might see it a different way. But yes, the dress is blue and black, and if you are used to color correcting photos and accounting for things like light affecting shading, it is easier to see.

I don't know why people aren't already aware that we each perceive colors slightly differently, the same way we do flavors or odors. Not a big deal if someone sees it a little differently.

Yeah, I don't understand how people could see black, anywhere, at all...unless they're viewing at like 170 degrees off center of some shitty TN display. The white is clearly meant to be white, but it's a potato quality pic with a blue cast.

edit: confirmed. what. the. fuck. Just showed it to my wife and she straight up sees black and blue.

Not asian at all as far as I know, and it's blue and...black I guess. Kinda maybe dark brown or charcoal grey/black and not jet black.

On a Dell ST2202T monitor (IPS but believe it's 6-bit dithered to 8 bit or something), non calibrated so not the best display. Haven't checked on my Note 3.

I could see some displays looking different but not sure it'd be enough to make it white and gold. Could maybe see the gold, but not the white unless the display is way off or something.

Just checked, Note 3 looks pretty much the same to me.

There are plenty of product shots and other properly lit views of the dress, besides being able to tell how it is washed out.
