they have a joint venture with toyota to produce matrix/vibe amongst other things

they used to own hughes, which owns directv for the moment. they probably still have part of it. part of EDS too i would think. delphi is also something they probably hold part of.

I always wondered what was the point of having Buick and Olds..they should have one or the other since they both seem to meet the same needs, atleast in the past. Now Olds cars are more for younger buyers <Alero, Intruige -- both which are pretty good cars>

olds is older than gm and gm is getting rid of the brand as soon as the useable lives of all the models end. they'll keep selling the bravada for another 4 years or so. after that... no more olds.

I think most of those were independent automakers at one time or another. Did you know Cadillac used to be part of Ford? :Q

chevy is supposed to be the affordable family brand
pontiac is affordable youth brand
saturn is even more so than pontiac
cadillac and buick have ended up being the higher priced conservative vehicles, which is why they will merge
and oldsmobile is being repositioned to be a higher end youth targeted vehicle.
