What condiments do you prefer in your ham sandwich?

Lettuce, dill pickles, white onions, yellow mustard, banana peppers, hot pepper relish, black pepper.

Comes as a very fine, yellow powder and you mix it with roughly equal parts water 10 minutes before using.
You can get pre mixed stuff but it's not a patch on the powder.
try adding some vinegar for extra punch.

we have both Colmans and Keen's Mustards.

Ham is too salty for me to normally appreciate.

Homever, Ham is a wonderfull treat when on a sammich, or in omelettes.

Ham + Cheese + sliced Tomato + mustard + pickle (dill) + onion.. mmmmm

For thick slices of ham, mayo and only mayo. For the thin sliced stuff veggies as well.

So, what's so great about Coleman's powder, and why should I choose that over Mr Mustard? Mixing it with wasabi sounds interesting, but that would just give me what Mr Mustard does out of the jar. I do like the tin. I'm a sucker for tin packaging.

When I lived in Kentucky some folks would refer to it as "bible cheese" because one of the local brands (yes there were more than one) had bible verses printed on the lid.

I have no idea what Mr mustard is so I can't really answer your question but I'll tell you about the mustard powder.

When you wet the mustard powder it releases the oils and flavours. It takes about 10 minutes for this to occur. After this time the flavours then gradually subside so you need to make it fresh each time you use it.

The ready made mustards have already faded before you eat them.

Colemans is a decent brand but any good mustard powder should be as good.

I got one of their(I think) pre-mades once. It was an extremely coarse mustard in wine if I remember right. It was good, but unexceptional. I'll try the powder next time I go to the store. I have no complaints about freshly opened mustard, but I use it unevenly, so while it's good when freshly opened, it sits in the fridge and loses a lot of flavor. Making it fresh each time would solve that problem.

Mr Mustard. It's cheap and delicious...
