I need to create a prototype Oracle server (database and potentially analytics). Due to company rules I am limited to Dell products for this size project. What type of configuration would be best as far as CPU (Dual Processor / Dual Core?), Memory, Storage (will need ~150 Gig Minimum Storage), O/S (XP 64, 2003 Adv Svr, etc...?). Additionally the price has to come in at under $4,000 (my signing authority).
Additionally the database structure will parralell that of a datawarehouse (star schemas).
I assume that drive speed and memory will give me the best dollar for dollar performance, but I'm unsure of what type of raid setup (if any) and whether SATA would suffice or is SCSI required.
