The Wii U had more hardware sales in July than the Xbox One.
Mario Kart 8 outsold the Watch Dogs all platforms combined total.
The Wii U has about a 2 million user lead on the Xbox One.
Microsoft is in 3rd place. The Wii U needs to be on the poll.
Why does it need to be in a poll in a thread that is not about the Wii U?
This and...
On what planet is it not understood that a console with a whole year head start should have a sales lead by default and pointing it out is pointless?
Of course it's understood that the Wii U has a head start on the Xbox One. The point is, that if the Wii U continues to outsell the Xbox One, and nothing changes with the current momentum, that the Xbox One will never catch the Wii U's sales.
Hurrrr durrr.
Yet the XB1 averages 550,000 a month to the WiiU 325,000 a month.
Why don't you just be honest, you want it to be Xbox exclusive and it isn't. You've complained about Bungie being independent before.
Xbox One sales have been on a steady decline since launch. Currently the PS4 is outselling the Xbox One 2:1, the 3DS is outselling the Xbox One 2:1, the Wii U edges out the Xbox One, and the PS3 is nipping at it's heals.
The thing about the Wii U though, is it has more positive momentum than the Xbox One does. Mario Kart 8 sold more than the Watch Dogs all platform combined total.
Nintendo had a stronger E3 this year than MS did, and their holiday lineup of exclusives is better.
The stage is set for Xbox to be last place this gen.
Nintendo (NASDAQOTH: NTDOY ) recently reported its first-quarter earnings, and investors expecting a comeback were sorely disappointed. Nintendo's revenue slumped 8.4% year-over-year to 74.7 billion yen ($727 million), and it remained in the red with a net loss of 9.9 billion yen ($97 million).
However, the most disappointing part of Nintendo's earnings report was Mario Kart 8. Although Nintendo sold 2.82 million copies of the game during the quarter, it only sold 510,000 Wii U units, meaning that most gamers who bought Mario Kart 8 already owned the console.
Nintendo has sold 6.7 million Wii Us to date, keeping it ahead of Microsoft's Xbox One, which has sold 5 million units, but behind Sony's PlayStation 4, which has sold 8.7 million units. But Nintendo, which launched the Wii U in November 2012, had a head start of a year over both consoles.
The article you reference also acknowledges that the Wii U sold 510k units in a quarter, where the year before they only sold 160k, and that Mario Kart 8 caused software sales to surge.
The Wii U's actually picking up positive momentum, while the Xbox One's slowing. It's just that the click-bait media articles love to spin things negatively, since "Wii U is actually doing alright" is less likely to get attention then "Nintendo is doomed!"
this thread is hilarious and it's 100% obvious who is in who's camp just reading the replies. OP hasn't even been back since he posted it. clearly a troll thread.
Maybe he meant it as a serious thread, but bailed once he saw the results. Damned people are crazy.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm all about my One, but I get people prefer the PS4 for several legitimate reasons. I'll never understand why console, smartphone, CPU, GPU, or other tech choices end up as arguing so fervently you'd swear the people were arguing for their lives.
it's just because people feel a need to justify to strangers on the internet why they spent their money the way they did. they also feel as though they have to be on a "team" because they feel included in a bigger group.
it's gotten worse now too with all the sales info out there now a days, because people think that sales numbers actually matter to them as a general consumer. for as "terrible" as the x1 is selling (according to the internet) it's launch was better than the 360 launch was, regardless how it compared to the ps4, yet for some reason, people think it's failing.
sad really.
If you follow sales from May to now, the Xbox One was outselling the Wii U in May, then there was a surge in Wii U sales around the Mario Kart 8 launch, and now things have settled where the Wii U is now edging out Xbox One sales. If you look at the last 4 months, the Wii U has outsold the Xbox One.
I think a lot of people might not know that. There's this perception that the PS4 is the lead console, Xbox One is closely trailing, and the Wii U is dead. The reality is that the PS4 is way way ahead of the Xbox One, and the Wii U and Xbox One will need to slug it out for 2nd place.
and those stats mean absolutely nothing to us as end users. if you want to play mario or zelda, you need to get a wii-u no matter how many ps4s or x1's are out there. same with halo and gears of war and xbox1, or uncharted and god of war and ps4.
I would say that it (sales numbers) only matters in regards to whether you live and breathe on MP.
Even then, it's still more down to what your friends own. And at the base of it all, which console has the games you want to play?
I will own a Vita TV for Grim Fandango. I own a Wii U largely for Earthbound. YES, both of those will see and [in the case of the Wii U] have more games, but exclusives and features that fit what you want to do are the only things that matter.
Horsepower and sales are just weak points used by insecure people to defend/attack their/others' purchases. Just be happy with what you have. The internet will never approve, so don't try to seek it out.
