xma, 3402 was modded by Anrentren, but anyway, it's strange that it doesn't work. Let's hope other members of this thread will have ideas.

I am thinking of a build with the Asrock X99 iTX board.

Whats the best v3 chip to get when it comes to higher clock speeds and temps. It will be air cooled in a DanCase SFX-A4

It looks like many of you prefer the E5-2683v3.

Is there a way to overclock the first 4 cores and leave the remaining at stock. This will give me a good partial boost for gaming and media, but will still have the other cores when Im encoding. I would also hope this would decrease power draw and thermal output.

Thanks so much!

IFrost, have you tried another sound card? Like external USB one, for example. Is there a difference?
It is really comming outside the computer case and only high loads. I have the same with my E5-2696v3 (but not with my E5-2683v3) however the only thing that is the same brand motherboard... haha i think some of the intels does that annoying noise i don't know where it comes from.

Something else with bios 3402 and 3502 the normal Intel Turbo Boost does not work . The turbo was working until bios 3302. Sciff did you noticed this at your system before the hack V3?

xma, no. I have none of the problems you've mentioned. And before the hack I didn't have TurboBoost problem, my 2696 did accelerate to 2.8GHz (all cores)

What do you mean outside of the computer case? My problem is that the audio stutters randomly, that has nothing to do with anything outside of the pc. It is a problem with windows 10 since Linux doesn't have this problem at all.. I really need a fix for this otherwise it makes the hack usuless for me :/

I personally don't know about the possibility of overclocking any cores of E5-2683 V3 above their maximum turbo of 3.0GHz. It seems to me that in the best case scenario turbo unlock allows all cores to run at maximum turbo speed, not some of the cores above it.

Therefore, in my opinion, if you want reasonable price/performance ratio and at the same time high clock speed in single-thread applications, the best choice is E5-2696 V3. It has a maximum turbo of 3.8GHz and capable of 3.3GHz all-core turbo (but not every mobo will allow that, sufficient power is needed), which makes it only a little slower than a single E5-2699 V4 (which has 22 cores capable of running at 2.8GHz).

However, since it's an 18-core CPU, it's pretty expensive.

What I meant the single thread turbo. In bios 3402 and 3502 the maximum single thread turbo is 28 not 38 like in bios 3302 or before max single thread turbo was 38.

How did you get this? i cn not get it that high mine stuck around 2400 or something...

He is running the hack. My 2696 gets a score of around 2900 and single core score if 156 with the hack and running a BCLK of 104.5.

I tried everything but I cannot inter EFI shell to install the V3 do not know what the problem with the motherboard I have. Is there another way to install V3 and activated to be executed before the OS without this EFI shell.?!

xma, I will contact a friend who has the same mobo like we do, maybe he can help.
However, my impression is that you've missed something in the Bios settings. It seems the only explanation

This V3 hack it will be installed only on ssd/hdd booting portion yes or there a part of it will install on the motherhood bios. If only on the ssd/hdd is it possible to get an image of that booting portion where the V3 already installed and activated to be executed before the OS and restore that image on my ssd.!
Any thoughts

xma, it doesn't matter which way you copy the V3.EFI file to your HDD or SDD. But for it to load, you have to execute the bcfg driver add 0 fs1:\EFI\BOOT\V3.EFI "V3 Full Turbo" command from inside the EFI shell. Only then you will see this driver in your BIOS settings and will be able to choose it.

P.S. by the way, as a last resort, I would suggest you to clear CMOS. See what happens then. Who knows, a miracle could happen

I am running the hack too, modded bios, V3x2_cup27.EFI (or 39 does not matter) + + 0,020V on cpu, diasbled HT and Speedstep in bios. My CPU 'says'(CPUZ and HWiNFO64) that it is running x38 at 3798Mhz great but.... when i put it on load it drops to 3100MHz....

any idea?
On ASRock X99 Extreme 4 right now, i will try with my MSI X99S SLI Krait later.

but no miracle happening here. I did cleared CMOS many time and even took the bios battery out but no luck. It does not want to boot into EFI shell. i think I will flash back bios 3302 and used it as it is.

Have a nice weekend everybody

I tired with BLCK on 104.5 and even then i get in CB15 a score of 2700 it does not go higher then x31 i can not get all cores higher then this not with uC27 nor uC39

The 2900 score was using the same motherboard (ASRock Extreme 4) as you.

You have a bottleneck somewhere. Try running the original V3 driver Dufus uploaded, that is the one I am using.

edit:
Turn off SVID telemetry in the BIOS, that will allow your CPU to go beyond the 240 Watt limit.

ajschot, it seems to me your motherboard can't provide enough power for this kind of CPU to run at higher speed. Judging from photos, it has only one 8-pin CPU connector.

I have the same motherboard and it can sustain an all core turbo of 3.3 and score over 2900 on cinebench. He has a bottleneck somewhere.

Hello All,

I have an ASUS x99 E-ws 3.1 MOBO with a 2690 V3. Just with BIOS settings and a 105 BLCK I can get all cores running at 3254. With the BIOS hack will I be able to get 3.5? Thanks for all of the great work

I have the same motherboard as you with 2696v3 after upgrade to bios 3402 or 3502 the maximum single thread turbo x28 instead of x38 but with bios 3302 or before max single thread turbo x38.

My question in you setup with bios 3405 dose the cpu in single thread turbo to the max at x35 or it max at x31?
