Its a 2695v3 ES, 2.2 ghz regular, 2.5 ghz turbo all cores. 14 cores, 28 threads.

145W TDP... I can see 3.3GHz on all cores as highly probable. You will likely need to apply a negative offset voltage for the core and possibly uncore domains to reach this frequency.

Since its my primary system, I am a little worried about problems with a "bricked" motherboard or ES compatibility problems. What do you think ?

Sorry if I'm mistaken but as I understand this thread about getting CPUs to run at their turbo speed all the time. ES versions have significantly lower turbo clocks so you can't get that high. Otherwise how would that work?

It seems we are one step closer to XEON v4 unlock
no :-(
I did other test with modded bios
If i delete micro code for Xeon V4 cpu my motherboard does not post
it off itself after these code sequence 79 91 A2 off (in loop)
usually when it posts it has these sequence 79 91 95 beep 96 AA (post bios)

so in my rampage V extreme 10 edition it is not possible for now

for the sake of test i have modded my bios deleting Haswell microcode and then flash it with flashback
Motherboard posts as usual...

If you have some ideas..

yes.. i flash it with flash bios usb (flashback) and yes system boot...but no unlock core
all core to x28...

old post CANONKONG say with MSR change working
CANONKONG 2696 v4 set and do that set to all core turbo
but no say what doing this methode..>>

CANONKONG, do you think this is possible with stepping 1 v3 Xeons (ES) and with v4 Xeons??

Does this hack of yours still require a bug in CPU microcode?
Stepping 1 v3 Xeons (ES) can use V3-1.FFS.
I have test v4 Xeons,it worked with change the MSR.

The assumption is yes as this is how it is with Haswell-E/EP. I could override the check...
If it possible I will try.
Modded bios is not working for me..
After flashback motherboard Rampage V extreme 10 does not post

@mtgben
Have you checked with HWinfo64 if microcode is gone?

I understand why your motherboard is booting
It seems kris modded bios has inside 0406F1 microcode..

Not sure a bricking is possible as long as you have a good backup of current BIOS image standing by if needed. As you know, a CPU is not part of the hardware compliment required to conduct a BIOS flash for most modern-day motherboards.

Ahhh. Yes, now I see what's going on. The modded BIOS I uploaded has Haswell-E/EP microcode removed and Broadwell-E/EP microcode present (remaining, untouched).
You would need the opposite.

UPDATE: ASUS Z10PE-D8 WS BIOS modded to delete Broadwell-E/EP microcode

So I flashed the X99 Taichi bios, and bricked it. But the Taichi has bios A and B. I switched to bios B, and am back, but I want to restore bios A. How do I do that ?

I vote you follow the manual.
I would bet you simply flip the switch back now and flash again.
