if you have time to check this one
https://we.tl/ugM7IZT0yx

this should be without xeon V4 microcode..but my motherboard does not post with it :-(
Thank you

I see nothing out of the ordinary as to why it should not work.
It could very well be this exploit exists however v4 Xeons are caught in a catch-22 in that ES1/ES2/QS chips *require* a microcode update applied to even POST. This is why we test.

It would not even post so I could flash A bios.

Switch the switch after posting with the good BIOS and then flash the bad BIOS with saved backup / good BIOS.

IIRC there's also a Secure backup under the tool section which says A->B but the help says either BIOS can be recovered. I have not used it so safer to do above method rather than risking both chips being flashed with the bad BIOS. Once both chips are good then maybe try if it works perhaps using a good 1.40 on one and a good 1.50 on the other.

IIRC someone else tried flashing on a Taichi X99 using a stepping 1 v3 CPU and would not post, halted at debug code 79. Almost got my hands on a stepping 1 10 core v3 a week or so ago but was beaten to it by a couple of hours.

Also from a post using v4 early stepping seemed there might be a small possibility of overclock with bclk straps but haven't had one of those come my way either so don't know.

The assumption is yes as this is how it is with Haswell-E/EP.

Microcode check overridden for this new special build now included (i.e. driver will attempt execute even if microcode revision patch detected):
https://github.com/freecableguy/v3x4/releases/tag/v3x4-0.10b-i406f1-rc9

Tested and now no error booting from an USB and executing it.
Turbo is not unlocked. I have same behavior with/without it
Maybe it is necessary to delete microcode on firmware but in that case my system does not post

@mtbgen
have you flashed "unmicrocode firmware"? your system boots without V4 microcode?

take a look on my CPU data

I have tried to do it with UB 1.6.9.5 but with your original firmware it hung during removing empty step
Bios is built in a temporary folder but it is not possible for me to rebuild the exact header
So in your case you have to use another method to patch it
bin temporary file before header rebuild is 16.384 instead of right value of 16.386 (bytes)

@Markfw took a look at that BIOS option and it's intelligent enough to know if it was run from A or B and copy over to the other chip. Do note that BIOS settings for that flashed chip will likely be set to default.

Tool setting when running from BIOS 'B'

Confirmation

Takes a while to do it's thing

Power off, switch over to 'A'. Let post and reboot automatically before pushing buttons.

Setting as seen from 'A' BIOS
