I have 3 cpu - and 3 motherboards :
Asrock X99 Extreme4 bios 3,60 ( bios after mod - remove Haswell microcodes)
1: normal version E5-2660 v3 10c/20Threads 2,60Ghz @3,30Ghz turbo - mod works ( on bios 3.60)

2. ES E5-2695v3 14c/28Th 2,10Ghz @2,90Ghz stepping 6F1
before mod my motherboard + ES E5-2695v3 start and working fine but after removing microcode won't boot on modded bios 3,60.
after switching jumper BIOS to BIOS 2 ( 3,30 ver ) motherboard boot and working fine with ES e5-2695v3 35Mb 14c/28t.

MSI X99S SLI PLUS - ES won't boot

Can somebody please help me with this bios modded?
I tried but had no luck with MMTool, Ubu or UEFITool.

Most won't take the chance of modding a modded bios for you. The best you can do is post a link to the bios you want help with. I.E. http/mobomanu.com/support/bios and name the specific bios. What are the specs of your motherboard? Asus is tricky to do. I am trying to mod a bios right now but that is only to try and unbrick it before I attempt rma. Shouldn't have tried to alter bus/base on x99 xeon it doesn't work well or at least not for me.

If i'm not mistaking MSI has a halt on no ucode. Have you tried instead of removing the mcode to modify the cpu id instead? I believe someone tried this early in the thread. I attempted with Giga board and the results were good but unless I use the efi trick nothing worked.

somebody correct me if I am wrong, but this "all cores on 1 core turbo" bug only exist in the E5 V3 Xeons (Haswell). Sorry...
Nope you are correct, bug only works with the e5 v3. I am interested to know that skylake xeon if you can alter the bios to overclock via the bus. I doubt it but hoping. I have a skylake i3 overclocked to 4.7 exploit.

Hi,

So I finally flashed by BIOS on my Asus X99-A via the Asus esay USB Flash function.
The BIOS Update worked as I am now on BIOS 3505 and before I had 34XX...
Unfortunately HWinFO64 tells me that my uCode is still "38" and not "nothing" :-(

When I check the .CAP file via UBU or UEFI Tool, I only have the Broadwell uCode left - no Haswell ucode anymore...

Whats wrong?!

Could maybe somebody kindly check my .CAP file and either tell me what is wrong or even better modify it so that I get rid of the uCode?

Would be great )

this is not a modded bios it is just the file from the MSI site but i could not link that directly

I thought you already had your ASUS bios hacked...

Well, HWInfo64 tells what it really is, because your file does indeed contain 0x38 microcode.

I modified in in UBU: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2KaWVukZC8mVGZabVdOc3BRWW8

Now in UEFITool NE it looks like this:

Hi Sciff,

I managed to flash the BIOS with your file
In the BIOS ucode shows <empty>. (yippiehh!)

I only disabled the C-States and load my (MBR-) Windows 10 (not the UEFI one) to start HWinfo64 and there the uCode says "36" ?!

How can that be ? I have not load the V3.EFI yet

A quick run of CB15 gave me 1015 what is 20 too less... will check with my UEFI Bios and Load the EFI driver..

I keep you updated

It's because Windows 10 is distributed with this version of the microcode. You have to rename "mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll" file in "C:\Windows\System32" so that the system no longer finds it

Ok - first success!!

Loaded V3 efi and booted into my UEFI Win10:

8 Cores @ 3 Ghz now.

CB Comes up with 1214 (before max 1099 @2,65 GHz => 25x105,9)

So that is great! Will now try max TDP and Turbo Options to see if I get 1-2 Core Turbo which is 34!

@thanks so much Sciff!

PS: Will also try to rename the .dll and see if the CPU runs with 30x on all Cores even with my old MBR Win 10 ^^

How did you got your memory on 3GHz? I have G SKill Trident ddr4 3200MHZ but mine always keep running at 2133 with E5-2683v3... on the same ASRock X99 Extreme4 i loaded the speed profile in the BIOS but i can't get it to work for a reason always on 2133 and with E5-2658v4 on 2400. How did you do this?

The RAM is running 2133, you are confusing his RAM speed with the cache/uncore speed.

Hi Sciff, thanks for the reply, I have the 2683 V3 but thinking of possibly going for the 2696 V3 OEM instead, want this board for the thunderbolt 3 card for low latency audio connection. : )

I did a search and found someone on the forum with success on this board! Sent him a PM.

Just beware that it won't support RDIMM memory, just UDIMM (which can still be with ECC). Otherwise it's a great motherboard! I wish my more expensive X99-E WS/USB 3.1 had some of the features

Ah, and regarding the turbo unlock. I don't see why it can't be done. The procedure to do this is clear by now. If you need help with that, just ask.

b9creations, well, the ASUS website doesn't mention the support of registered memory, take a look at my motherboard's specs to compare and see the difference. Also, if you try Pcpartpicker website, it won't allow you to choose RDIMM memory for your motherboard (however, ECC UDIMM is supported). So if you don't need vast amounts of RAM, just buy some decent desktop memory and you'll be just fine Or go with ECC UDIMM if you need or want error correction.

I renamed the "mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll" and it cannot be found by my (MSR) Win10.

HWinFO tells me "no ucode". so far so good. But unfortunatelly, the multi is now locked to 25x, does not matter if 1 or 8 cores are used.

Is there any chance to use the full turbo mode with my MSR win10 (no UEFI) ?

Yes mine is, however with further tinkering I botched it. Trying to manipulate the pci lanes. So now I am actually on my x99 sli giga. Trying to do it from this mobo it is acting weird don't know why.

hello everyone. i have asrock x99 extreme4 and e5 2686 v3 QS. i've tried flashing modified bios which as i though by then wasnt succesfull, because system didn't even post. but luckily i didnt manage to sell my old 5280k yet, so i replaced the cpu ant bam, it booted succesfully. is it possible that support for xeon qs cpus was removed from latest bios?or should i just try flashing older bios'es to check for compatibility, if that is even possible. thank you

edit: what could be done to revert to previous bios in situation where was no replacmenet cpu, and bios doesnt boot, no video and clearing cmos, removing battery and replacing jumpiners has no effect? im afraid a can find myself in situation like this again )
