What CPU do you use for your primary gaming PC?

2500k. Will make an upgrade in June as my B-day gift to myself. She's been a good chip, and its allowed me to avoid the upgrade bug for a few more years.

My GTX580 was not as fortunate, getting the axe almost 2 years ago. The 7970 I went to could have lasted me another 6 months (damn you, modded Skyrim !!), but a 290X now keeps the 2500k company on my gaming rig.

My AMD Athlon 860K is my Moba/casual machine in the livingroom(basically a console replacement) and the 6700K is used for high end games on the big boy Monitor.

i5-4690k in the primary box, i5-2400 in the secondary box both running stock HSF/stock clock. I have OCed the 2400 a bit when I was playing DF, but nothing else I play is really taxing on either. So I have no need to OC currently.

Decommissioned my 939 box last year when I picked up the 4690 after deciding I didnt want to spend the $$ on trying to find skylake deal and buy more expensive ram.

I use an i7-3770k at 4.2 GHz. When I built the system, I immediately set the multiplier for 4.2 GHz, found it to be stable, and I've never even tried to go higher with it.

No. Much as I'm a proponent for it and used to run undervolted, ivy runs cool enough that I haven't bothered (stability testing isn't as fun as actual games).

I should have bought 2, sold em, and built an entire new 6700k PC with the money. Hindsight is 40/20.

I had my 3770K @ 4.2GHz as well and could go to 4.5GHz without touching the voltage at all- was a silicon lottery winner.

If I need to, I might push it to 4.8GHz. Hindsight being what it is, I wish I had put a little extra money down to get the 3770K. Either way, I think the only upgrade in my future will come after Skylake.
