By far the best card ive had is the Amazon.com rewards card. Ive barely opened the card in May 2012 and already had gotten enough points to purchase 5 LED can lights for my house all for free. Will eventually replace every single light with LED for free in the coming months/year. My only regret is not getting this card sooner to take advantege of all those tax free years here in California.

I have 2 Costco AMEX cards. 1 for business, 1 for personal.

MasterCard for online purchases because it allows me to create virtual 1 time use numbers.

I don't know why I have a Discover card.

Amazon VISA for Amazon.com purchases.

I got ours earlier this year based on someone mentioning it in a thread on here. Majority of spending goes on it, so the points rack up very quickly. Quite nice and easy to use since it's integrated directly with Amazon. Between gift cards and points I haven't spent any "real" money in a few months!

I miss that feature, which MC card is it?

One of my Citi cards has it.

Besides the Amazon points card, we use our Costco AMEX (cash back + executive membership = ), and Discover with cash back.

Plus another pile of them that get used occasionally just to keep them open.

Which ever one has the biggest incentive bonus. Just booked our round trip tickets to the UK for $94.20 inclusive of all fees/taxes. Will probably get around 11 nights covered by points as well including stays at the Caledonian in Edinburgh and the County Hall Marriott. So....$4,500ish in rewards?

Another fan of the Chase Sapphire Preferred as well (I think we've been through this before...). I keep that one and a Citi card I have had for 11 years to try and keep my average credit line length up (and for the perks on the SP)

This, made $300+ this year

I use Citi Dividend for the cash back but I think there's an annual $300 cash back limit. I don't think I've ever reached it though - that's a good thing right?

I recently started using my DiscoverCard again because of the all-inclusive online purchases for 5% cashback this period. Citi is only doing:

Chase Freedom is still kind of my mainstay, although I'm thinking I may open another high rewards card soon just to complement it.

2013 5% rewards categories:

Oh, man... Amazon late in the year? I am going to hit the limit so quickly! :$ Although, this quarter has been pretty good to me too, because I bought my new iPad at Best Buy and bought airfare directly from United, which both counted for 5% cash back. I made quite a pretty penny back!

None, I use a Visa check card. If I don't have the money, I don't spend it.

I used to think the same way, and now I just kick myself as I realize how much I've wasted in regard to cash back. Just make sure that you always use your cash back as a credit against your statement. There's no point in using it for funds as you'll be sacrificing something that could have given you another 1-5% cash back.

their online "malls".(Hidden gems, just go to their online malls and it hotlinks you to the retailer. In exchange you get 5%-20% cash back, I've saved tons of money through them. Even Apple at times has 10% cash back.)

I usually end up kicking myself (apparently I do that often based on this post...) as I tend to forget to check Chase's Ultimate Rewards Mall. I recently yanked down their entire list of participants and put it into a spreadsheet. There aren't too many that are helpful, but it is worthwhile to consider that Best Buy has an additional 1% if you order online, and you can just use in-store pick-up. Some stores have 10% like Kohls and Nike.

Two that I primarily use for everything now:
-Costco True Earnings AMEX for gas only (I do my best to get gas @ costco as well... doesn't always pan out though...)
-Citibank Forward for everything else. It gets 5% back at restaurants (including fast food), bookstores (including Amazon.com!), music stores, video rental stores and movie theaters then 1% on everything else.

Card's I have had in the past:
-*Bank of America Cash Rewards
-*Amazon.com VISA, no longer needs this, Citibank Forward trumps it by FAR
-*Discover More Card, I haven't used this in forever, no rhyme or reason why
-Capital One Cash Rewards (their customer service was HORRIBLE)
-Charles Schwab VISA (it was 2% cash back on everything... but this has been discontinued and they moved everyone over to a bank of america card ... both are run by FIA Cardservices)

*I still have these cards open and probably will keep them open. But the Citibank Card does everything they do, and more... so no need for them to be used anymore.

I know DiscoverCard has this capability, and any Citibank card has this too (regardless of visa/mc etc...)

my Citibank Forward VISA card has this capability

I use a Capital One card.

I pay like $60 a year and get 2% rewards that can be used for travel expenses. I could have gotten 1.25% rewards without a yearly payment.

The reason I like this one is there are not international fees compared to my chase card that were something like 3% (ouch!!) which may not be a big deal for some people who stay in the US.

What I would like to do it get a debit card that allows me to get cash internationally without the 3% charge (ouch) but couldn't find that.

American Express Gold. Locked in on one of their intro programs where you spend $xxxx.xx in the first 3 months and you receive 30,000 points. Needless to say, a large chunk of family Christmas was taken care of by points Customer service and fraud protection are on point as well.

If you're looking to do a balance transfer for the sake of paying something off (had to do this my last semester of college), Chase Slate usually has 0% balance transfer fee and 0% APR for the first 13 mos.

One of the things that has surprised me is the rapid increase in the number of cards with no foreign transaction fees. That (and the spend bonus) were one of the biggest reasons I went with the Chase SP card.

Now there are some 50+ cards with no FTFs

Eh, true.

In that case, Discover Cashback Rewards  Used prior to swapping over to Amex. I can't trust myself with ability to carry over a balance.
