I skipped a lot of posts so I don't know if this is a repeat.

I always think about that. A white person says something bad about a black person - racist. A black person says something bad about a white person - just standing up for their rights.

I see a lot of "black racists" (black people who are racist against whites) and I really don't like it. You wan't to talk bad about racists fine. But don't be calling every white person a racist. Ugh. That pisses me off a lot as a person of non prejudice. I do have prejiduce when they start doin "This white boy" etc .....

Another thing that pisses me off. White kids trying to act black and homie. Throw them in the middle of harlem let's see what happens. HAAAAAA!!!!!!

not justifying any type of racism, but when you have a race that enslaved the others, in the case caucasian (white skin) and the slaves being indian, black, chinese, native american, hispanic, you cannot hold the race that was once slaves as liable as the slavers.

if i can say it in another way, those that were enslaved are sensitive. not meaning that they are poor creatures, like a wounded bird or anything, but sensitive in the sense that they were once thought of as inferrior. now the caucasian race cant compare racism against them with their actions.

its hard to say in words, but im trying to say that caucasians cant act like they are all holy even though they themselves arent racist.

Ya, I know some white people have these names too, but what's up with the names like Ocean. What were these people thinking when they named their kids?

20 bucks says someone in here is named Ocean and they stalk me...

No offense if your named that ... Uh ...

Impact55,

Yes the africans enslaved their own kind, but as stated, criminals of the kingdom, captures of war, or as in rare cases, ones that sold themselves into slavery. Slaves in africa, before the european slave trade movement, were not subjected to the same tortures that the slaves were subjected to in the european slave trade. Most slaves in africa did household duties and the young ones were more like playmates to the young of the master's family. But hey, if you think that my college professor and the book we read on the slave trade is incorrect, then you're intitled to that thought.

Oh yeah, and modern day egypt during that time was mainly muslim. And yes, there were muslim slave traders that got slaves from more central africa.

Anyways, I'm not trying to say that we should be held responsible for what happened, I'm just pointing out one of these darn "two wrongs must make a right" type of statements.

Slavery aside, isn't it amazing that civil rights for African americans was only 40 years ago!? That's insane... I mean, if the generation before you was treated like complete crap and you were only granted relative freedom then? And even then you see racism everyday. Within the latter half of this century (2001 century interpretation) blacks have only established themselves to equatable new racial immigrant status (like the irish or italian settlers of 1800s).

I don't want to come off as justifying any black on white racism, but I at least can understand where a lot of bitterness stems from... hopefully with time, this will cease... just be aware of the situation.

Any minority will tell you that they have to truly excel above the call of duty in order to be noticed in this white society... racial lines are being broken, but we have a long long LONG way to go to equality.

You SURE about that? AFRICAN-AMERICANS, you say? Hmmmmm.....something's not right here....

P.S.-- African American is a bullsh@t word anyway. Dave Matthews is African American. Most black people, on the other hand, are NOT.

this is sort of straying away from the original post a little but not too much. people from the south suck...northerners are so much nicer. i've lived in miami for over 10 years and find that a large amount of the people around here are asses (for lack of a better word). it's really evident in their driving and also in speech and attempted diction.
by attempted diction i mean that nicer people at least tend to try to speak well, whereas the "mean" people feel it is their duty to use profanity in every other word.
anyways, i contribute this to the large hispanic and especially cuban culture. being a cuban male, i have been aware of the macho ways of my people, especially the men (ofcourse). this comes from insecurity, from what- i have yet to elude, but i'll be sure to work on it should i find the time.

Nevermind what i wrote, i was just angry with how rude drivers are. YUCK! disgusts me

did i miss something? i thought that it was the white-european male that ended the institution of slavery that had been going on since the beginning of civilization. anyway, black slavery started within africa, chieftans selling conquered tribes to others, to the chieftans selling their slaves to the middle east to europe discovering the idea. so why is it that everyone seems to think that Jesse Jackson ended slavery or maybe martin luther king jr. if you ask me i would say that the modern liberal black and whites who agree with their worldview are wholly ungrateful for the termination of slavery.

youre right, MLK Jr didnt end slavery, wasnt even around when it was ended. but what he TRIED to end was unjust treatment, and un-equal rights that minorities had.

it seems funny how you are trying to credit white-european males for ending slavery when it was they who participated in the brutal practice of slavery as we now know today.

perhaps africans DID trade slaves, but i can almost guarantee you that they were treated more as servants, and werent tortured, raped, beat...

PLEASE study your shiznit before you try and have a debate. The Barbados slave code is what made slavery a brutal practice.

I suppose you think the Civil War was won by a black rebellion in the south? Too bad it was mainly white guys fighting each other, and not even over the issue of slavery. The abolition of slavery was a secondary effect of the Civil War.

Yes the main issue of the Civil War was control of the U.S. Congress..... If you don't know that you shouldn't reply in this thread.

of course i know that slavery was not one of the main reasons of the civil war. it was because of the political machine that the south was with their votes.

i dont understand how you are using it to back your argument though

p.s. wasnt barbados a europeon colony? for some reason, that idea is in my head (not being sarcastic)

idont understand where you are coming from talking about the war, i will be the first to tell you that the civil war was an economical and political war, but i will say that France and England had already abolished slavery and were anti slavery to the point where they used their military to turn back the slave ships, where the europeans the first people to be cruel to slaves?

Here's where I stand: there is at least 25 different nationalities where I work, I don't give a flying flip where the person comes from as long as they are good at what they do. EVERY culture was oppressed by another culture sometime in thier history. Hell, do people in the south still claim that people in the UK owe them because they were oppressed when thier great-great... grandparents lived there?

Hell no. Are all blacks African-American? Just ask someone who's Jamaican. Do I call myself european-american? No, I'm American dammit, and proud of it. That's all I am. The only time when I've been out of the country is when I was up in Idaho hunting and found that there is indeed a 30' wide swath of trees cut down to indicate the US-Canada border.

I have found people in the South (as in The South) to be much nicer on the whole than Northerners. I guess it really depends on the area. The more accurate explaination would probably be people from rural areas are nicer than those who live in metropolitan areas (MIAMI). I know people in NY/NJ are all angels, though......
